Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 54 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by good tent, bad instructions We have used the tent on 2 different trips to different float trips. It rained and was cool on 3 of the 4 nights we used it. The tent was comfortable with no leaks, the vestibule was great. On the first weekend I simply blocked out the instructions and figured out how the tent was designed to be put up. April 3, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not for first time campers. The tent is poorly designed and difficult to set up if any wind is present, which was not helped by the lack of instructions. It is a one season Bluebird day model. November 19, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by No color coding Dreadful assembly instructions and none of the color coding for poles etc that was promised on the box so it took a while to assemble and I'm still not sure it was 100% correct. Fortunately it didn't rain the two times I've used it so can't comment on that. Decent size for two adults and two 6 year olds and the vestibule is useful. 6 in the tent would be like sardines in a can. Net result: You get what you pay for and it was cheap ish. November 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by love the tent my son and I took a family camping trip to Stone Mountain last weekend and it was the first time using our new tent. it has a lot of nice features and they did a great job with the layout. It was really easy to assemble and it was just my son,who is six, and I and we got it up no problem. the vestibule was really nice as well. I recommend this tent to anyone that needs of a good tent for family camping. October 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Huge, but instructions were no help The tent is huge and has a nice little overhead on the outside. The instructions were not accurate, but it wasn't difficult to figure it out, especially for someone who hasn't ever put one up before. The mat that goes with the "porch" part of the tent was very small, but we used it for our shoes. Overall, great tent for a great price! October 29, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Difficult setup for a first timer This was my first camping and had difficulty setting up this tent. It requires 2 person to do it. It may be okay for an experienced camper. Also, the top of the tent is flat. This causes condensation to drip in the middle of the tent. October 22, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Good idea with poor design I purchased this tent for a cub scout 3 day camp. I thought the vestibule would be a nice addition to help the boys keep th edirt outside of the tent. I have been in scouting for a long time and cannot count the number of camping trips I have been on with different kinds of tents so the price of this tent should have been my first clue but I wasn't paying attention. In order to set this tent up I first tried to read the instructions. The poles are color coded but the instructions do not clearly identify which color goes where. You have to read the parts list and then compare that with different steps in the instructions to get an idea for which pole goes where. Next, the ends of the poles for the main dome at tipped with metal ends. This may be fine for guiding the fiberglass rods into the socket, but they carve out the inside of the soft plastic hub that they are supposed to insert in to. The poles have to be bent at such an extreme angle that they dig into the hub as they are inserted. This will eventually cut through the hub so plan on replacing this plastic piece after 5 or 10 uses. With regards to the fly/vestibule, There is a single pole that has to be slowly guided through the short sleeve at the top/front of the fly. Be very careful not to snag the material as the sleeve is barely large enough to accomodate the pole. A better design would have been to have three distinct pieces that could be connected together. On the first tent I purchased, after the third use of the tent, the fiberglass pole for the fly literally shattered/split from one connecter to the next. This happened while the tent was up. I can only assume from the combination of heat (90 degree days) and stress from the angle of the pole in the bottom connector. Dick's was good enough to replace the tent but I would strongly recommend paying the extra money for the coverage. The taped seams do well excecpt for any place the ties are connected. I would also recommend seam sealing all of the tape to prevent a shower. The tent is rather heavy due to the large upright poles and amount of fabric but it serves well as a base-camp tent. It is large a roomy but little strength in the poles so don't plan to hang anything from them like a night light or fan. Better to put those on the ground in this tent. One night we had a really strong rain storm but as long as the sides are staked out the tent doesn't seem to move at all. We replaced the cheap standard tent stakes with more rugged and longer ones to ensure the lines stayed where we needed them. Overall, I think the tent is acceptable for the price yo upay but don't plan on this being a long term investment or a heavily used tent by any means. October 7, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by JUNK!!!!!! Used tent one time took forever to figure out pole placement due to poor directions Stayed in tent for 3 night last night in tent we had heavy rain and water pooled up on rain fly and collapsed the tent had to stay up all night to keep the water from pooling up on roof the holes on the rain fly where the pole goes threw we're sewn to tight had to cut stich in order to get pole in place all and all I would not suggest this tent or any other field and stream tent if or that matter October 1, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Don't Read the Instructions. Just use diagram of poles. I would have had the tent up in an hour if I didn't spend so much time trying to follow the written step by step instructions, which left out major steps and were incorrect in many ways. I finally abandoned the written directions after seeing a large diagram of how the poles and steel legs, connect to the "hubs", which the directions never mention. Once up, it's not a bad tent. I kept dry during heavy thunder storms last night. September 13, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great tent We were looking for a comfortable tent to meet or light camping needs and this one fit the bill. We liked how much tent you get for your money. It is large and airy, and at 5'9 I had no problem standing in it. We love the open mesh top. The second night we used it there was a bad storm and the tent with included rainfly kept us and our things dry. The only drawback is the instructions, which are more like helpful hints than step-by-steps. However, even with my limited experience and patience we had it up in less than thirty minutes.
