KÖPPEN Maelstrom 2 Person Tent 4.4 5 19 19
Can't beat it for the price! I searched around my brain for something negative about this tent, but I really can't think of anything. For the price you really can't go wrong. I've done a 4 night trip and a 5 night trip with this tent at this point and it has held up great. Sleeping two in it isn't a problem, but your gear is going to have to go out front under the rain fly. It can easily sleep one plus gear. So far the tent has held up against some vicious winds and some cold nights I've been extremely happy with its performance. If you're looking for a two person tent and you don't want to break the bank, this is the tent for you. (The tent has been dubbed "The Banana" by my friends because of its color and shape.) Nice backpacking tent for one Big Guy Tent is fast and easy to put up and has quality shock poles and stakes. If you are a 6 foot 200lbs plus individual this is a perfect tent for one, or with another smaller person. You can move around and dress inside relatively easy and the front area under the rain fly has plenty of room to put your gear out the door. Only downside I saw was it was easy to get dirt from right in front of the door inside when you tried to get in, but manuevering your ground cloth to compensate for that will eliminate the problem. I stayed nice and dry and warm inside in 30 degree weather. March 19, 2013
best value for price I bought this tent for a weekend kayak trip. It fit easily into the 10'' x 15'' kayak hatch. A 5 year old could easily put this together by themselves. I haven't put it through a storm yet but it seems pretty solid overall. I'm impressed by how great this tent was for only $120 February 26, 2013
Definely worth the money I believe this tent was very adequate, me and my g/f went hiking and camping for three days straight and it worked very well. I would definetly recommend this tent for anyone who hikes and enjoys the outdoors. February 15, 2013
Just What He Asked For! The tent came in a small box, was easy to set up in the foyer, and was just what the oldest son wanted for Christmas. Went up very easy. Came down very easy. January 8, 2013
Cant beat the value I've taken this tent along on 2 trips now in to Big Sur and Arroyo Seco. Im not sure that I can convey how stoked I am on this buy. The maelstrom can definetly hang and bang with almost any tent in its class but at almost none of the cost, you wont find this quality of a tent at retail price anywhere else and you can take that to the bank!. The simple hoop design makes set up a breeze and the large vestibule provides plenty of space for gear storage and cooking(or in my case as a sleeping space for a wet hound dog). The living space inside provides ample space for one or a cozy fit for two(great if you choose to bring a girl along). The only thing I cant vouch for is how it stands up in poor weather conditions as I have only experienced decent weather while using this tent. Oh and the compression sack makes it a breeze to strap to the bottom or to fit inside your pack. Happy Trails, Smokey December 6, 2012
Great for the price Lived in this tent for over a month this summer. Survived severe thunderstorms with high winds. A bit awkward to get out of in the morning. Other than that, I would highly recommend it. November 21, 2012
this tent is a sound tent with good features. I used this tent two days in the national forest the first week I owned it. It rained for both days. The rain made it through the micro spacing in the fly faberic enough to make everything moist. I dryed it out and applied two cans (time three application )(6 cans total) of silicone waterproofing on the inside and outside of the fly and the inner tent's floor. I camped for two weeks in the Rough Mountain Wilderness several weeks after the silicone waterproofing application had cured. For 6 days of the two weeks I weathered out hurricane Sandy. Not a drop of water made it into the tent, however I had to make sure that there was cross ventelation occurring when I slep, to reduce the resporation condensation that would gatter on the inner tent's netting; and get musty. The tent had no problem handling four days of constant 40 mile per hour wind with gust exceeding 60 miles per hour. The tent is drafty, so when I was not in my o degree rated sleeping bag on the colder nights that came in on the back side of Sandy I "would" get numbed toes and fingers. I am intending to take the tent into the rockies' wilderness areas in the future, but am concidering taking a backup mountaineering tent just in case this tent can't cut the mustard. It is very dangerious to have a tent fail in the wilderness - as much as it is dangerious to get a tiny cut or splinter and not deal with it immediately. These things can both put one's life in serious danger very quickly. November 5, 2012
did not like this tent CON for this tent was it was not free standing. The end entrance makes it alittle difficult to enter exit example middle of night to empty the bladder. The real thing was it was not free standing I live in FLorida and we have sand and more sand. If you had to pitch this tent and use the 20 stakes to erect it in Rocky soil good luck. To many other tents of quality makers at about them same price to choose from. Shop around. October 28, 2012
Great Tent - Awesome Did a lot of research and picked this one for a lot of reasons...cost being one. Just purchased it and was able to set it up in less than 10 minutes...Like the size can't want to use on the trail and up coming Boy Scout trip. Read several review and could not find a lot of negative things about it. August 24, 2012
