Timberland Men's Ledge Hiking Boot
Fit, feel, cushion, forward roll of the foot during walking, appearance ... everything about these shoes works perfectly fine. Expensive for what are basically high top sneakers, but top of the line in every way I know. (note - these shoes have kind of low arch support)

continueous eyelets vs. hooks
I like the style because it's one of the few hiking boots with continueous eyelets up to the top instead of the hooks for the laces like most of the other brands. That's what initially drew me to check them out and I was glad I did because they were light & comfortable too, but I did end up buying a 1/2 bigger than my normal shoe size for max comfort

My son and I got these for a hiking and canoeing trip. I don't see how we could have done better at any price. - Lightweight yet sturdy -- kept me from turning an ankle on jagged rocks. - Drain and dry quickly -- we were standing calf-deep in water for minutes at a time. I haven't tried them in cold weather yet, but I have other boots that I'll probably prefer in snow. I consider these to be my new three-season boots.
