Rated 5 out of 5áby GREAT TARPON REEL Loaded with 50 pound braid this reel preformed outstanding under the pressures of 100-150 tarpon. April 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby A WORK OF ART, THAT WORKS! I've been a Shimano guy for many many years. As of late however, I've begun using more and more reels from the Pflueger line. Thanks to a great sale from DICK'S, I purchased this Stradic FJ in the 3000 size and I couldn't be happier. Shimano has made quality products forever and this Stradic is no exception! I've owned everything from lower cost Shimano Sedona, on up; and currently own one of the Stradic Ci4 models. To be completely honest I likely wouldn't have purchased this particular Stradic had it not been for the sale pricing (when DICK'S had buy three rods / reels get 25% off). This one isn't cheap but it has been my experience over the years that with fishing gear, more often than not you get what you pay for. Having the chance to save 25% and get an incredible reel was too much to pass up. This Stradic feels solid, (as with all Shimano's you can feel the quality) and she's smooth & strong and beautiful too! I've only had her out once but having owned so many Shimano products over the years, there is no question this reel will work as well as the others and as well as advertised. If you can afford a reel at this price point, I don't think you could possibly go wrong with the Stradic FJ for your fishing needs! April 12, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5áby Cheap materials at a high price Have fished along side these reels all my life and can always tell a stradic just by the sound of the retrieve.. loud and somewhat abrasive. I also do reel repair for friends and have had a couple of these come my way, both with broken worm gear slider brackets because they use cheap cast pop metal and are over extended. This results in a useless reel because this part is not for sale. Also, they use heavy plastic for side plate and rotor, though now they say they use graphite. Either way, a reel at this price should be using a full aluminum body.. graphite is usually found in low end salt reels or fresh water reels. They do use decent bearing sets, except for the roller clutch (anti-reverse), which is the same one used in all their models from the sienna (30$) to the stella ($1000), and it uses very cheap plastic in all of them.. they count on you never looking. Overall all a horrible value, should be priced around 50$. April 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby We now have ten Stradics These reels are spectacular. Between my wife and I, we have two pair of 8000's as well as this pair of 5000's (and four smaller CI4's). They are perfect for nearshore and offshore fishing. Last year I landed a 140 lb. tarpon on one of the 8000's with 40 lb. PowerPro. The drag is smooth and the reel retrieves line easily. The handle has a great feel. And they're as light as or lighter than anything else comparably priced, which means a lot to my wife. We use these reels all day long with no fatigue. March 28, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5áby Great reel right under a stella Great reel very smooth like a stella and durable at great price. February 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby PRO RATING Ive fished with just about every reel brand known, whether it be other shimano reels, penn, Okuma, Mitchell, etc. but this reel absolutely gets the job down the best out of all of them! I used to use the Shimano Sahara in the 2500 FE model, that was a really nice reel but couldnt with stand very frequent fishing after 3-4 years of use. I have had my Stradic 2500 FJ for 2 years now and its just as good as one straight out of the box! I would reccomend this to fellow pros and anyone I talk to, over every reel made, in my opinion the Stradic Fj series is the best! December 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5áby best spinning reel I have ever used Bought a Stradic 4000 to replace a broke down Abu Garcia Orra. I use it regularly skipping flukes under docks teamed with a seven foot Falcon bucoo. Absolutely awesome reel, I am going to buy another Stradic 2500 as a small lures reel to carry in the boat. You cannot beat these reels. November 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5áby Stradic I bought a Stradic from Dick about 17-18 years ago for about $55.00, in Canada it was $150.00 so even with thirty percent exchange on it, it was still a great deal. I have caught 25-30 pound Chinook Salmon on eight pound test in the Whirlpool Rapids at Niagara. These fish can strip the reel down to the last few feet, and it can still take an hour to finally land them. Even after all these years it is still a fine smooth real. I also have a Diawa Regal Z also 17-18 years old, and it is also a great reel. I would buy a Shimano any time. These reels will probable outlast me. I would give it five stars. October 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5áby Awesome reel! Before buying this reel, I had a Penn Battle in the 4000 size. I was having nothing but issues with the Penn. I took it back to Dicks and upgraded to the Stradic FJ. This reel is the best I have ever owned! It is built like a tank and has tons of power! If you need a good reel, look at the Stradic FJ. August 26, 2014
