Gerber ® and Bear Grylls have updated the design of the classic military canteen and nesting cup with a BPA-free water bottle, snug fitting nylon sheath and leak-proof top. The included 2-handled cup is aluminum and is suitable for boiling water. To avoid spills or drops, the outside of the canteen is textured for grip even when wearing gloves or exposed to extreme conditions. A water bottle does not do the trick for surviving in the wild.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jake vs Wild. Sloppy. I use this product for exactly what it is made for. It is very lightweight. flatter than most canteen/cup combos making it easier to pack. The orange and black are sharp and look good. The handles on the cup are rubberized. Many people don't understand why. However I discovered they are offset and lock into each other making it very easy to mount the cup on a sapling or anything that won't burn. This gives you the ability to place the cup over the fire and boil water without placing it directly in the fire and burning the cup itself. Issues that I have with this product is the poor quality of the bottle. This bottle is very thin and I feel like it will not last the test of time. Also the cup is relatively thin making me wonder how many fires it will survive through. The sheath I received is not exactly to specs with the bottle/cup causing it to fit sloppy. It does fit tight over the bottle just cosmetically could have had more time spent on it. The sheath is not entirely neoprene as advertised. It is a black nylon with the strap reaching over the shoulder of the bottle being neoprene. This does not pose an issue other than the fact that is takes the nylon twice as long to dry out than the neoprene. March 9, 2012
