Put on an extra Ugly Stick pole. Works great but practice to avoid the birds nest. Great buy.

Awful
I bought this reel last summer and it was probably the worst money I have ever spent. I do not recommend this reel to anybody.

poor quality
bought this two weeks ago. worked fine when I got it. I think a bearing went in it because it makes an awful noise when I cast it. It also is not as smooth reeling it in as it was a day or two after I bought it.

good for the money
well got it on sale and thought it looked good and love the fome handles took a little playing with line sizes and lure weights to get it tuned in but i got it now and i love how small it is

not pleased
I bought this reel a few days ago and i used it last night. First of all it made a terribe griding noise when i casted it. Then when reeling it I noticed it was not as smooth as it was the day I bought it. I am not happy at all with this reel dont waste your money.

small price big performance
This is the second of these reels I have purchased. Was so impressed with the first I had to get another and a 7' tec spec rod. Great for smaller soft plastics, top waters and jerk baits. Smooth casting and holds up to bigger fish, even when they run for the brush. 10 lb flourocarbon is ideal. Compact size makes it very easy to handle. Field and Stream, you have me sold.

better than advertised
Use it for buzz baits and top waters.I matched it with the tech spec 6'8" fast action rod and love it so mush I bought another reel and a 7' tec spec. Casts great with 10 lb flourocarbon line and reels smooth and easy. Really surprised by how well they work for the price, F & S has got me sold. Only reason for the 4 instead of a 5 is the over time test. If these reels work this well over the entire summer with the amt of fishing I do then sir we have a winner.

Good Reel
I've had this reel for a year now, and all I can say are good things about it. The first cast, since I was a beginner, I had no idea how to use it, so I obviously got backlash, but ever since I learned how to use a Baitcaster, it's been smooth sailing. I love this reel. I took in an 11 lb bass on it, and there were no issues with drag, or casting. Great Reel. i recommend it.

Disappointing to say the least.
Great looking reel, with nice features on it,especially the foam type reel handles. I was really happy with the reel until the first time I used it. very first cast, so so. Second cast, some better. Third, fourth, fifth and sixth, one third of the way out, the gears engaged and bait smacked the water. looked the reel over to see haow the line was spooling, and that was ok. It just wouldn't cast more than about 15 feet until the gears engaged on their own. I was definitely not pleased with this reel. Might have been just a bad one, but I wouldn't gamble on another. Great looking, poor performing.
