Best Reed Cut Several companies have used this cut of top reed over the past ten years or so. (I believe Quaker Boy was the first I saw to make it available commercially. It was called the "Split Notch".) The beauty of this cut is that it is basically a cross between a "cutter" call and a "V" call. It offers the user the ability to hit more clear notes, with proper pressure, while still having the easy rasp of a "V" call by varying tongue and air pressure. With a little practice comes control and this call easily becomes a good all-in-one to carry at all times. It also offers the TRUE two-tone hen yelp (a clear/high front end that breaks into a lower and more raspy back end). If you've heard many live hen turkeys call over the years, you know exactly what I'm talking about. This call reproduces that sound extremely well. Many other calls simply fail to do so as they're either too clear or too raspy. (They just can't do both well.) Frankly, about the only thing keeping me from giving this call 5 stars of "purr"-fection is that Michael Waddell endorses FlexTone and I just find him and the whole "Bone Collector" thing "overly commercial". talk to & smack down turkeys!!! Great quality call, has good sound. Nice raspy yelps, says everything a turkey would say! Don't forget to rinse calls in mouthwash or you'll keep getting bronchitis. Also carry a bottle of water if possible to wet/rinse off calls in the field April 4, 2012
