Eureka! Tetragon 5 Five Person Tent 4.3 5 23 23
Nice tent for its intended use I like the size and height of this tent, 6 feet tall at the center. It is not for backpacking, and it is not for the hardcore camper, but it is a great tent for the occasional weekender during the warmer months. It goes up in a flash with just one person. If I was camping for weeks at a time or for cold weather camping I would spring for one of the more expensive models with a vestibule and larger fly, like the Grand Manan 9. January 26, 2015
This product has a great history. Have not used our new tents yet. If these are anything like our old ones we should be very happy. January 1, 2015
Passed the test Spent 5 nights in October up on the Gun Flint Trail near Grand Marais, MN in this tent. It rained and snowed everyday but I stayed dry! Slept on a double wide cot with no issues. There is a lot of mesh on the siding so I would recommend a heater for the colder weather. October 6, 2014
Nice tent This tent is the perfect size for two adults and two dogs. You could comfortably fit 3 people, but anymore than that would get too crowded. I love the design of this tent. A lot of air ventilation, which is great for the warmer months and climates, and keeps the tent from getting that stale smell after a couple days, that being said this is certainly not a tent I would use in the colder months. I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 because, fortunately for us, it never rained on our trip so I can't speak to how waterproof this tent is in reality. I'll update when I find out! August 4, 2014
Nice tent, if you get one with poles and stakes This looked like a good tent online and again when I opened the carton shipped to me -- until I found that the carton contained a tent without poles or stakes. It's being returned for a refund. August 3, 2014
Not the greatest design for rainy weather This tent is similar to an older Eureka that I used to own that had served me well but I feel this model is not as well designed. I've only used it on one trip so far so time will tell but it strikes me as the kind of car-camping tent that will basically force you to hunker down in your car if you encounter serious weather. The fly has a two pole design that seems unlikely to hold up to serious wind. And I know from experience that the tent is not that great in rain. It didn't leak terribly but there was water pooling at the front bottom of the door. The overhang is not very significant so the door had to be completely closed in even the slightest drizzle or rain would get in. In retrospect, I'd definitely opt for a tent with a vestibule as it was a mess figuring out what to do with shoes--leave them out to get wet or bring their sopping dirtiness in the tent? The tent is basically all mesh except the floor--I'm not a huge fan of these tents as we camp in colder places and I like to have actual tent with some mesh for breathability. The fly does cover all the mesh areas but it's still chilly and breezy at night. The other thing I didn't love was that the tent door is huge and can't really be kept partially open--it's a pain to unzip it to get in and out. Especially in the rain, this giant door flops water all over the place when you zip it open to let someone in or out. July 19, 2014
Easy setup and easy take down I haven't used it while it was raining, so I don't know how it will do in the rain. But is was easy for 2 of us to set it up and take it back down. Big and roomy, lots of vents and kept me warm in the night. July 10, 2014
Easy to set up I used this for the first time on a very windy day and only a 6 year old to help. Once I realized to keep the supports assembled and bend them to fit, it went quickly. November 24, 2013
good buy in a good tent I bought this tent for me and my son to cub scout camp in. The center height is tall enough that I can stand up in it and it has enough floor area that the rest of the family could join us if they wanted to. Overall construction seems to be good as I noted no defects and it lasted through our first outing with no issues. It goes up fast. You could set it up alone but having an extra person really helps. My son really loved it and it is a vast improvement over my 30 year old 7x8 3 person dome tent that we had been using. It is a bit drafty for cool weather camping so if you use it for that, make sure you have a good sleeping bag to keep you warm. November 10, 2013
Ya Ya, it is a nice tent! I had a nice time camping in Wisconsin with my 4 person family. We went fishing and caught 5 pounds of salmon. November 5, 2013
