Rated 5 out of 5 by Smart Go ahead and buy it. Sets up really quickly, very good price point purchase. Quality is good and at 6`3" it was still reasonably sized for me to sleep in. Not sure what other reviewers are thinking when they say it was to small. April 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Firefighter56 Can't be beat for the $$ I've had this tent for over a year now and loved it so much I got them for both of my boys too. My boys are Boy Scouts and I am an ASM for our Troop so our gear gets used at least once a month, sometimes more. We have slept in them in the rain and actually a tornado passed within a mile of us while at Muir Valley last fall. These little tents held up awesome and we stayed dry while many others in the Troop fought their tent in the wind and wound up with wet everything. These tents are quick and easy to set up and take down which is awesome when bad weather is quickly approaching and you are wanting to get packed up and on your way or want to set up and get out of the weather. We have also slept in the snow and even had heavy snow overnight while in these. They held up great with no problems but I'm not sure I would want to do that frequently with these. If you are using these in cold weather you had better have an awesome sleep system, these tents don't hold much heat but they are very well vented for summer and warmer weather. Condensation is not an issue in cold weather or rain either. The rain fly, when tied out with the guy lines and staked down appropriately, does not touch the tent so you don't have to worry about being super careful to not touch the sidewalls when it rains. The gear loft is small and won't hold much but will safely hold your wallet, knife, keys, chapstick, and change for the trip. That is about it though, anything else will have to be kept in one of the two side pockets on the interior. I would recommend this tent to anyone who wants an excellent tent for a great price, backpacks or car camps and plans to use it either as a 2 person tent with no gear or a 1 person tent. The vestibule is great for keeping your boots dry but I have problems keeping my pack in there. It will fit but I like to keep it in the tent with me. There is more than enough room for that when I am in it by myself but with 2 people in the tent there isn't even enough room for an extra pillow and there is not enough room in the vestibule for 2 packs and 2 pair of boots. To make this a 2 person tent Kelty should make a second door on the other side with a second vestibule for the other person. If you are backpacking with this tent I would take the poles and stakes out of the tent bag and keep them on the side of your pack and roll the tent and attach it on the outside bottom of your pack. With the poles outside the tent bag you can fold and roll the tent small enough that it is the same width as your pack and is easy to hike with. I use this tent as a 1 person tent and for that I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. If I were using it as a 2 person tent I would give it 4 stars just because its a little tight for 2 people with no storage for the second person's gear and not having the second door. April 21, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by bigd Kelty Tempest 2 Man This is a great tent . Went this weekend backpacking .. Wake up on Saturday to pouring down rain my pack and shoes were in the vestibule area and they were dry so I was happy with that . The tent is self only takes seconds to put up and down so when I was packing up getting ready to hike for the day it was still sprinkling and was able to get it down and put inside my pack without getting to wet . Rated 5 out of 5 by Wally1952 Easy to set up. Great little tent I loved it the first time I used it. It far exceeded my expectations, it rides nicely on my bike. I will recommend to my biker friends. March 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by RangerGene Love My Tent I bought this tent last fall and took it on the AT immediately. As I dropped my pack on night #1, thunder rolled and it started sprinkling. I unpacked my tempest 2 and had it up in very little time. As I tightened the rain fly, the bottom dropped out. I rolled into my tent and was dry all night. The ease in set up and break down is great. I would give it a 4.5 only because it's a little heavy for backpacking - which is why I bought it. March 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by ratbastard Perfect size for two people. Perfect size for two people. The tent I received in the mail was on time, but it seemed to be one that someone had returned and was slightly damaged. I was able to exchange the item at the store with minimal hassle. March 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by ellison1966 Fantastic tent I've been using this tent for a year, even in the winter. It is a 3 season tent but with a good warm sleeping bag, I was able to use it through December. It's very sturdy when tied down correctly. I use it solo I like having plenty of room for gear and I toss and turn a lot, and since it only weights a little more than a 1 person tent it is perfect for me. Not to mention the fact I got it on sale a Dicks so the price was great. February 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Longwalker Great Tent I have used this tent on several hiking and hunting trips. It is light and packs down much smaller than the provided bag. I have had this tent for six months now and I have used it on the AT, red river gorge, and on two hunting trips. In six months this tent has seen everything from down pours to snow and even some ice. I have had no issues with leaks or tears. I am surprised at how well this tent is put together, I have seen similar quality tents with much higher price tags. December 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hikermom Kept us dry in a downpour This tent is awesome! We took it on a backpacking trip and there was a downpour and we stayed happily dry all night long. The tent is light weight and a breeze to set up and tear down in the rain. My husband and I used this tent and although we didn't plan too, we had to store both our giant 65 L backpacks in the tent while we slept. It was snug, most definitely, but doable in a pinch. A raccoon tried, unsuccessfully, to break in our tent throughout the night, spiders also tried to sneak in. We were not only dry, but bug and pesky rodent free as well. We are getting ready to use this tent next weekend, Nov 1st (30 degrees outside) so I will be able to comment on how it does in the colder temperatures. This is a great tent! I would HIGHLY recommend this tent! October 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Norm Great price & quality Used the tent for 2 nights of camping at the Buffalo River in Arkansas. The tent was simple to setup and take down. There was a heavy dew each night and morning but with the rainfly, the gear and myself stayed dry. The zippers held solid and never got in a bind. However when hurrying to get out of the cold wet dew, I did allow the rainfly zipper to get into its own flap. No harm done though. On the box it recommends the tent for an individual 5'10". I'm 5'11" and would of preferred a few extra inches. My feet were touching the sidewalls in an effort to prevent my pillow from touching the opposite side wall. Other than being slightly smaller than I would of liked, this is a great 1st tent. Not sure I would really classify this as a 2 person tent. If you're on the fence trying to decide whether or not to get this one, just do it. For the price and quality you won't be disappointed. October 24, 2014
