Rated 5 out of 5 by Grannybackpacker Great Bargain This tent is easy to set up, take down and pack. Used for one person rather than two. Plenty of room for backpack, boots, and everything else inside. Has one vent. Bought this for our 12 year old grandson and he loves it. Price is unbelievable for the quality of the tent. Rated 3 out of 5 by April Tent is nice, tent poles are terrible I loved the tent itself, but I immediately noticed problems with the poles bending. The poles essentially seemed like paper wrapped together. Both poles bent within the first night I had it set up and were broken by night two. I was extremely upset. I had to spend $10 on duck tape at a campground to repair it for the rest of the week. The only reason I gave it a three is because I love the rest of the tent. I hope to get new poles and see how it performs. So far, it seemed to keep me dry. I just hope I am sent better tent poles. September 14, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Dave NIce tent but lacks instructions... My son and I are going backpacking this summer and this fit the bill very nicely. The weight is right, it sets up pretty easily except for the cover sags a little. There are ties to help with this but I'm not sure if they tie to the stakes or if you have to string them up on a branch or something. Either way we'll make it work. Not much height in the tent and ventilation could be better as well but that's the trade off for the weight and the price. June 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by DrSaxman33 Better then advertised! Got this tent about a month back and was a little hesitant, but I read the reviews and decided to pull the trigger. Easily one of the best outdoor purchases i've ever made. First night I used this tent it was pelting rain on the mountain. I set up the tent and rain fly nice and tight, no ground tarp (i think ground tarps trap the rain closer to your tent) and crossed my fingers as I went to sleep. Woke up and the inside was bone dry! The vestibule area was big enough for my gear (and was also dry) and the tent was very easy and quick to set up. Highly highly recommend this tent! June 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by djpotpie GREAT TENT! This tent is awesome. I ended up getting it on sale for 60 bucks and it's a heck of a deal. Great tent for one or 2 persons, I used this tent on the last trip I made to the black hills of South Dakota. We camp dried the tent before taking off and every day of the trip it rained and the tent held up great. Even hailed one day. Not a scratch. I would get a foot print for it. I looked up the specs on it and found the kelty Arcadian 2 footprint works great with it. June 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by McBiscuit Incredibly easy setup/breakdown + keeps you dry in the PNW Bought this tent from Dicks in Renton, WA on a Sunday morning. Went to work w/ plans to go camping that same night. Hadn't camped, let alone pitched a tent in well over 10+ years. Boss man kept me late so I don't make it to camp until after dark. Reach camp and it's starts to snow...also, being in the PNW the ground is covered in moss soaked like a sponge. Flashlight in one hand, instruction paper in the other I was able to pitch this tent in under a couple of minutes in less than ideal circumstances. Suffice to say, I now consider myself a 'Kelty Man' as they produce high quality products at arguably the best price point in the industry. May 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by ace11 Great Tent! This tent is well worth the price. I have never had any problems with it. The rain fly keeps all the water out and the vestibule is a decent size However it is mostly mesh so I would not recommend this for camping in colder weather. May 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Smart Go ahead and buy it. Sets up really quickly, very good price point purchase. Quality is good and at 6`3" it was still reasonably sized for me to sleep in. Not sure what other reviewers are thinking when they say it was to small. April 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Firefighter56 Can't be beat for the $$ I've had this tent for over a year now and loved it so much I got them for both of my boys too. My boys are Boy Scouts and I am an ASM for our Troop so our gear gets used at least once a month, sometimes more. We have slept in them in the rain and actually a tornado passed within a mile of us while at Muir Valley last fall. These little tents held up awesome and we stayed dry while many others in the Troop fought their tent in the wind and wound up with wet everything. These tents are quick and easy to set up and take down which is awesome when bad weather is quickly approaching and you are wanting to get packed up and on your way or want to set up and get out of the weather. We have also slept in the snow and even had heavy snow overnight while in these. They held up great with no problems but I'm not sure I would want to do that frequently with these. If you are using these in cold weather you had better have an awesome sleep system, these tents don't hold much heat but they are very well vented for summer and warmer weather. Condensation is not an issue in cold weather or rain either. The rain fly, when tied out with the guy lines and staked down appropriately, does not touch the tent so you don't have to worry about being super careful to not touch the sidewalls when it rains. The gear loft is small and won't hold much but will safely hold your wallet, knife, keys, chapstick, and change for the trip. That is about it though, anything else will have to be kept in one of the two side pockets on the interior. I would recommend this tent to anyone who wants an excellent tent for a great price, backpacks or car camps and plans to use it either as a 2 person tent with no gear or a 1 person tent. The vestibule is great for keeping your boots dry but I have problems keeping my pack in there. It will fit but I like to keep it in the tent with me. There is more than enough room for that when I am in it by myself but with 2 people in the tent there isn't even enough room for an extra pillow and there is not enough room in the vestibule for 2 packs and 2 pair of boots. To make this a 2 person tent Kelty should make a second door on the other side with a second vestibule for the other person. If you are backpacking with this tent I would take the poles and stakes out of the tent bag and keep them on the side of your pack and roll the tent and attach it on the outside bottom of your pack. With the poles outside the tent bag you can fold and roll the tent small enough that it is the same width as your pack and is easy to hike with. I use this tent as a 1 person tent and for that I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. If I were using it as a 2 person tent I would give it 4 stars just because its a little tight for 2 people with no storage for the second person's gear and not having the second door. April 21, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by bigd Kelty Tempest 2 Man This is a great tent . Went this weekend backpacking .. Wake up on Saturday to pouring down rain my pack and shoes were in the vestibule area and they were dry so I was happy with that . The tent is self only takes seconds to put up and down so when I was packing up getting ready to hike for the day it was still sprinkling and was able to get it down and put inside my pack without getting to wet .
