Rated 4 out of 5 by This product works well. Easy to read. Holds charge well. Accurate measurements. July 29, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Garmin G6 GPS I purchased a G6 GPS unit as a replacement for my bushnell laser rangefinder since I like to know the approximate yardage to the hole but do not need to know that it is 78 yards to the pin versus 75 yards. At this point, I have used the unit for 2 rounds. The good - The unit is small enough to fit in your pocket and not even be noticable. Both times that I turned the unit on, it found the exact course that I wanted within 5 minutes. The yardage markers were consistent with course markers and within 2 yards of my old range finder. It is a very easy unit to use that gives readings to all the key featurs on the hole (forced carries/water/bunkers/etc) but the screen is a little touchy. I suggest using the screen lock function when putting the unit in your pocket. The one feature that I found myself really enjoying that I wasn't planning on using is the scorekeeping feature. The unit made it through two rounds without a recharge before dying in the parking lot after the second round. The bad - I expected the overview of the holes to be larger but I guess that is a lot to ask for with such a small unit. It is very easy to zoom in on any section of the course that you want to see in more detail. After 2 rounds, I am very happy with my purchase and will be happy to speed up my play versus having to always point and shoot 2-3 times with the range finder just to make sure I wasn't hitting the tree behind the flag. The new price point for this unit is also a huge plus. July 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by G6 I have only used it a coule rounds so far. I like the graphics. The first time at hole #1 the yardage was off and I couldn't find if it had the right course or not. If it's on there I couldn't see it. After I turned it off and back on I chose the course I was at and it worked good. I don't like that it keeps asking to keep score after each hole. I didn't use it and when I look for yardage that's what I see and it's another button to push to get to where I want. I guess I will get used to it. I had the golflogix which I liked, but tierd of paying $30 a year and new batteries every 3 rounds. I can't see the Extras without glasses --- which club, scoring, etc... All I want is yardage and it looks like it will be great for that. I just hope it holds up and isn't to fragile. Good so far. Good price July 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works as advertised I used this right out of the box. I have played 4 courses so far and the G6 picks up a satellite without a problem. Setting up computer and handling changes in the scoring section is a little quirky but I am sure that will come with time. July 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Garmin Approach G6 Golf GPS I am truly impressed with my golf range finder. It makes the game a little easier. I like the smaller size to carry while playing 18 holes. My friends also like it and it's features. Thank you, Randy Lukens July 21, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very nice product. Used on my 3 home courses as well as three other courses on a weekend getaway 175 miles away. It was fast and accurate at all locations June 22, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Garmin G6 My skycaddie SG5 just died. Just lines under the hole #. Didn't like the bad reviews for the SGX so I purchased the Garmin G6. I have used it 5 times and getting use to it. I do wish it were a bit bigger. Don't like to have it in my pocket or sitting in the cup holder so I am looking for some type of device to attach it to my cart. Do not like the fact that you can not keep track of your putts on the score card. Do like the fact that you do not have to down load any courses prior to arriving at the course. All courses are pre loaded and they are free. No membership to buy. The membership that I paid for with my Skycaddie is good until 2015, but even tho I am unable to use it I am not able to get a refund. May 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by a golf gps that is FAST and easy to use I have used a smartphone app that did yardage and score keeping and other stats. but once at the course it took a while to load the course, and then set up the stats that i wanted to track. i looked at several GPS models of garmin and other brands. I compared the G6 to the G7-8 but realized that for $100 more i could get wifi and my text messages on the device. (which i figured ment BATTERY Drain) so i also thought why do i need all that extra stuff on the device, for the sport that i like to play to get away from all that outside influence. basically this G6 loads instantly and knows what course your at. i would say about 10 seconds max and your ready to play and track your shots. the screen is easy to see in the sun and in the overcast days. i have played about 6 hrs of gold and the device was still good on the charge. Shot measuring is easy and fast as well. this came with a belt clip but this is a pretty good protector if you just keep it in the golf cart cup holder like i do. the screen responds pretty good, not like the newest smart phone but it works with a gold gloved finger which is nice. plain and simple this is the GPS that is basic and yet has all the important info about the whole. Also you can preview any course that is on the device. which i think is kind of neat if you bored. I love it enjoy PS with the G6 it will give you club average but wont recommend clubs to use. so if you are a tournament player (honestly) you can still use this device in tourny's as the 7 & 8 give you club suggestions you are not supposed to use those in a tourny. just FYI April 29, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by GPS My online purchase was to be free shipping. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but reading the instructions and playing with it I believe it will be great. March 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by good value I bought the Garmin G6 for both the GPS yardage and it's ability to track the individual yardages of each club I use on the course. It's one thing to bang balls on the range; hitting the shots on the course is not the same but far more important as to the exact yardage each club produces. February 25, 2014
