Awesome!!!!!!
This combo is a great deal. For the price it cannot be beat. I have used it three times and on Easter Sunday I landed a 45lb California Bat Ray w/ a 3 foot wing span. I have 50lb braided line and was land based fishing off the shore. The rod took it like a champ. Can't wait to use my 9.5 foot Big Water Ugly stick... I recommend this to anyone looking to land big fish but doesn't want to break their pocket book on a new rod and reel.

Ugly stick Catfish eye candy!
I can't say anything for the reel in this combo package as I only bought the two piece 7' spinning rods. I have two, one piece 7" rods and love them but wanted the two piece ones for convenience of traveling with them. Personally I have one set up with a Penn 440ss and a Penn 450ss on the other. I also have 14 other Ugly Sticks including two origional ones from 1972 when they first came out. The Ugly Stick Catfish is by far the sharpest looking of the Ugly sticks, it's total eye candy! These rods are also no push over, they are strong!!! With an ounce of lead and bait I can peel 75% of the line off of the 440 reel with a moderate cast. They will easily cast 3 ounces however (better use a huge reel) but you better have the line to do it and enough of it... The tippet and two lower eye's are glow in the dark. I haven't messed with them much as I use a bell/light stick system for strike indicators at night, but Shakespear was thinking of everything. The grips are top of the line, and so are the real seats. The flex coat on the wrappings is heavily done. Shakespear hit a total home run with this rod!! Just because it's specially designed for catfish doesn't mean it can't be used for other species because it will preform excellent on most. Wether bank fishing, trolling, lakes, rivers, and streams, it will preform wonderfully!

Perfect Catfish Rod
We fish the TVA river systems with this rod, and it perfoms well. It was at first a replacement, but it amazed us. Smooth casting, sensitive, yet very strong. We have caught catfish over 70 pounds, and catch 20 pounders constantly. This rod is great for Striped Bass and Drum as well.

"awesome combo"
I got this rod and reel combo about a week ago and it is great, i used it like twice so far and last weekend hooked two channel catfish with it. Would strongly recommend this combo.
