Rated 5 out of 5 by MommaT Just what we needed I wanted something less expensive than a paddle board so my 12 year old son could join me when I went out on the water. This kayak is perfect for him - just floating around the lake, enjoying scenery, getting a decent arm work out. I've used it too and really like it. It's very light so paddling takes it from side to side a bit but not as bad as an inflatable. August 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by KB Love it! I am a beginner kayaker... first time out (ever) with my Pelican was great. It fit in the back of my Nissan Rogue and it was very light so I could carry around myself. Got in and out with no problem and had a great experience. It was very comfortable (I am 5'2")... August 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Geogirl Great kayak! I am using my Pelican Vortex for the second summer now. I have taken it on lakes and on rivers, both large and small. I have taken it on Lake Superior, though I do not recommend anyone else doing that without extensive kayaking experience. I've been in rough water and windy conditions. I have not had any problems getting from point A to point B. I feel very stable in it and can move through the water with ease. Since I have not used any other types of kayaks, I have no comparison as to speed. It takes me about 15 minutes to go a mile from what I figure. It fits into the back of my minivan. I have taken out the back seats of my minivan, but that is because I want to store all my summer excursion stuff, including the kayak in there. I would still be able to fit it in with the folding seat installed. Debating on getting a second one for my son, but he is 6'. Would buy again. Good enough for what I want to do. July 26, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by MsMeow Cute lil' Pelican I chose the Pelican Vortex DLX 80 Kayak primarily because I wanted to be able to transport it easily and be able to carry it myself. It is the perfect size and weight for me to handle. It is well-made and I love the colors (purchased both the lime green and turquoise.) I do wish it made a bit more storage, but that would be my only complaint. It does have a cup holder though, which is awesome. I would definitely recommend this little kayak to people who are looking for a light weight, really portable boat. July 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Rae Cat doesn't like it but I sure do I love this little kayak. I have kayaked a few times in my life and after hearing a lecture from my roommate about how I don't have enough fun and am too careful with money, I got an impulse tattoo and this wee baby kayak. Although my mother does not like the tattoo and my cat despises the kayak (seriously, even with a kitty life vest she won't come with me) I love them both. The kayak is agile and easy to transport. I can fit it in the back of my jeep patriot and off we go. However with the kayak in the car I cannot fit any passengers. So be aware of having an excuse to not drive lazy people around with the "oh I forgot to take my kayak out of my car.. man.. that sucks" line. Being a strapping young lad (actually lassie) of 22 this kayak is quite easy for me to carry down to the water. The two little bungee chords on the back are much more impressive than I thought they were going to be and easily fit a 1 ft by 8 in dry bag under them. It does not have foot braces but the shape of the kayak defiantly make up for them not being there. The only think I did not like is that the kayak did not come with a man named Palo (or something like that) whom would carry it around for me and make me little fruity drinks as I kayaked in circles. But alas... maybe I can use craigslist for that. Great boat. Highly recommend for midlife crisis or divorced dads trying to make them the cool parents by buying things for their kids. Or in my case, a great impulse buy for 22 year old college females that don't like social events and want to have awesomely large biceps. (Dicks Sporting Goods does not guarantee large biceps as a result of this purchase) July 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by JennyB13 Great kayak Bought this for my sister. She loves it! Fits in her car (crv) she can lift it and carry it no problem. She uses it to go to the lake and lounges and easy paddling Only downfall was having it shipped and paying a lot of money for the delivery guy to just drop it down. Very disappointing July 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pelican80 Great little boat We fit two of these INSIDE our Subaru Forester and still had room for a passenger behind the driver seat! I'm 5'3 and can carry it with one hand. Great purchase! July 17, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by none Fun little boat My son has used this exact boat at summer camp the last several years and enjoys it very much. It is easy to handle and maneuver so we bought him one of his own. July 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Julie123 Perfect for our needs I am a beginner in the world of Kayaking and I loved it. I bought two, one for myself and one for my daughter and it was a perfect size for the lake we are on and for us to haul and handle by ourselves. July 12, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Minnie15 Easy to carry and manuever This kayak is very light-weight and easy to carry and maneuver. I went to the lake when it was windy, so the wind blew the kayak around a little. There is plenty of room for smaller people. I am 5'3" and my boyfriend is 5'7" and there was plenty of room in the kayaks for us. One downside I noticed is the kayak is not as sturdy as heavier kayaks and it is easier to tip over. July 12, 2016
