Coughlans Emergency Stove We were looking for a Sterno stove, but could not locate one and then we came across this. Very compact and seems sturdy - not crazy about the fuel pellets, but the box says you can use it with sterno - so we bought it in preparation of an upcoming storm so we could have coffee in the morning. We never lost power and so it remained in the box. At least we have it now for future use and also for any camping trips this summer. Seems like a good product, price is right and it is compact - don't know how it would fair if it was windy as their is no real windblock like the sterno stoves, but better than nothing. horrible little stove! The tablets do not last very long, and takes several just to heat up ~12 oz of water. Balancing objects on the top is an art form, and there isn't much room to put alternate fuels. For instance, a large can of sterno will NOT fit and neither will the brand that Dick's carries. After awhile, the joints stick and it becomes hard to open fully. also, the warnings on the package state that the tablets are extremely poisonous to even handle with bare fingers. Not something i want near my food! Extra tablets are impossible to find, at least in my area. December 21, 2012
it works good and it boiles good just like it would be on a stove in your house. it works good im ready to use it with my buddy!!! and this store is an great place and i think they need to get a lot of cooler camping things. November 3, 2012
Nice little stove This is a nice little stove for the money, yet it is a bit larger than the Esbit version. The fuel tabs that come with it are not very good, so purchase some Esbit solid fuel tablets and you are all set. This is a nice emergency "back up" stove. My main stove is a Trangia spirt burner. very effective What a great inexpensive way to heat up meals, I have one and a can of soup on my atv and carry one backpacking all the time, I carry a cigar lighter to light the tablets and carry the tablets in a ziplock to keep them dry. usually two tablets is all to heat up a can, just keep stirring so it doesnt burn. can not beat it. Just make sure your can is large enough to not tip over. October 16, 2012
Excellent for the price My daughter has one of these and I loved it! She also uses a jetboil, but I don't do the extended hiking enough to warrant the money. This is great for heating up water or cooking if you don't want to do the whole big fire thing. Packs up great. We have cooked rice, noodles, oatmeal, hot chocolate, and more on ours. You just can't beat the price for the weight and usability September 14, 2012
Love this Had one like this years ago and these work quite well in a pinch. Fuel tabs are short-lasting, but work alright. July 25, 2012
More then met any expectations I had for Small, light and sturdy. Quick and easy fire to boil water for meal time. Excellent for back packing or emergency use. Tablets light quick and burn hot and easy to carry without fear of spillage. Awesome value for the price. June 4, 2012
Very surprising for its size Great for emergency use, hiking or overnight camping. not intended to "cook" a meal, thats what full size and high dollar pocket stoves are for. Cannot beat it for the price. Burns any solid fuel tables, so no worry of spillage, or leaking. June 4, 2012
Great Addition to our Just-In-Case Kits Don't plan on boiling a pot of sphagetti, but this is a great idea for a compact stove. Reasonable heat and reasonable weight. May 28, 2012
