I have gone through 4 pairs of these expensive knee pads this basketball season and we only had our first game this weekend! One fall to the ground and the front tears and the hex pads come un glued! Can't someone come up with a pad made with a material that won't tear?

Rated 1 out of 5 by Eagle54 Don't hold up. Rip very easily
Expensive for knee pads that rip very quickly. I just got the second pair of these after the first pair ripped. After only three games with the new pair, the right knee already has rip on outside fabric. They are comfortable but don't hold up at all, so be warned that you'll need to keep replacing these at the price they are charging.

I used a large for my knees and a medium for my elbows for the spartan beast race.which is obstacle course racing, its a 13.5 mile race with obstacles. They held up great, did not weigh me down while being wet, crawled through mud, sharp rocks under barbed wire, dirt and more mud and rocks, traversed through a rope with the knee pads protecting my legs from rope burn, swam in swamp water..the water hydrated out quick....i put thses bad boys to the test and they still held up going through 13.5 miles and all those obstacles..easy clean...i was the only one on my team without bruises.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BasketballMom My daughter loves these!
My daughter plays basketball and is very aggressive. If the ball is on the floor, so is she. She must have knee pads that keep her knees from being injured. She absolutely loves these. They are thin, yet have lots of protection on the knees. They are worth the price. BTW, for size ideas: my daughter is 5'3" and weighs 100 lbs. (she is very thin). We bought a medium and it works perfectly. I don't see her pulling them up through the game like she did before we bought the McDavid brand.

We bought the McDavid Hex Pads for my daughter who plays AAU girls basketball. I heard these were the best knee pads for basketball, yet they didn't last one day. After her third game on the first day she wore them, a hole appeared in the knee pad area. Won't buy these again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DJung42 Best pads I've used so far
I've tried a few of the other knee and elbow pads and I wasn't sure what to expected with the Hex Pad design. Compared to the solid pads, the hex pads are awesome! I use these for basketball and I've taken a few hard knee falls going after the ball with these and the way the design spreads the impact is amazing! You will notice the impact but the force of the impact feels like its distributed across the hex pads and that's it...no other force to the impacted area. With solid pads, you still feel everything, but less of an impact. Obviously with a really hard fall, you're still going to feel stuff, but for an average bump, you'll like how these perform.
You might want to consider going one size higher than the recommended size. Per the sizing chart, I should be wearing a Large but they ended up being too constricting around my knees. XL size is a lot more comfortable and I'm not sacrificing protection.
