Rated 1 out of 5 by Cork Weak bail spring Bail spring broke right away before I could really even begin to use. Likely defective so maybe my review is too harsh. It seems like a good package for the money but this particular one was a disappointment September 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by KSUfisherman Great rod for the price The Samurai Combo really lives up to the Daiwa name. I bought the Light 5'6" combo to use while creek fishing and it hasn't skipped a beat. I have landed sunfish, baby bass, bluegill, and even a 20" catfish on it. Unlike most cheap combos, the reel is of high quality construction and the rod is quite light and sensitive. The combo works very well when spooled with 4lb. flourocarbon. I would highly recommend this combo if you are looking for a good reel that will run smoothly and a good rod that won't snap when it gets put to the test. September 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Scriblerus Daiwa for twenty bucks? What's not to love? I had been looking for a couple of beaters for my jr. high sons to drag through some deep underbrush and heavy mud on their fishing forays to the river. The Daiwa Samurai combo is absolutely perfect for this. Two outrageously competent and courteous sales personnel wound some braided line on the spools for me. The boys and I have caught some bodacious bass and catfish on these rigs in a nearly inaccessible ox-bow lake contiguous to our river. These are not spots at which one would want to take a $200-$300 reel. Don't, however , place $300 expectations on the Samurai . We have had no problems at all with ours. They cast and retrieve smoothly and can handle large freshwater fish. Getcha a couple. And when they tear-up in the outback someday, getcha a couple more. September 3, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Chip Great price for the quality Saw this spinning combo in your Sunday sales supplement and stopped by to see the item. At two for $40.00 I thought they would be junk and was pleasantly surprised- so I bought them. Excellent value especially for a quality Brand at that price. September 2, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by jcaster23 Great for the budget This honestly is a great rod and reel combo. I believe this rod and reel combo won't break the bank and is also pretty good quality for a beginning rod and reel for me. I like how smooth the reel and how comfortable it is in my hand?.I would definitely recommend this combo to friends. August 26, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Glance93 Great value Durable rod, good enough reel for the price. Reel feels sturdy enough to actually handle some wear and tear. I'd rather pay for this than spend a bunch of money on a fancy setup, they both catch fish just the same. August 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by B-iceq Impressively light. I just stared fresh water fishing, and since I was on a budget, the price worked out. I normal go on party boats for salt water fishing. I have a 9 and a 10 ft surf poles. I knew I couldn't use those. I like this pole for the money. It's a medium action with a spin cast that hold 200 yards of 8lbs test line. U have my eyes on other poles for the future, but this works very good...for now. August 21, 2014
