Good Starter kayak
My boyfriend and I bought these 3 years ago. And doing so, it was my first time in a kayak. Im about to start season 3 with this and it has held up fine for recreational use. I use this in non-aggressive water. Some moving water, but nothing crazy. I am about 150 pounds and find it to be reasonably stable. I have never tipped this kayak, even when fishing and geocaching from it. That being said, I have been in some rental kayaks that have been far more stable (and I have also seen people flip out of those in calm water). As long as you are not planning on going in tricky water and estimate you have at least average balance, this should be a good bet to start with considering the price. I have a water proof bag I take to keep everything dry. I wouldnt trust the little compartment. One last note, I purposely asked for a scratched up one and received a discount. With all the scratches on it now, im still happy I saved the extra 10%. :-D

great value, would buy again
We bought 2 last summer and take them out almost every weekend. Our only regret is we didn't get them sooner. Perfect for paddling around all the lakes. The only negative would be that the bottom scratches pretty easily on gravel shores, but since we know that we're careful. No problems at all with stability, even when we took them out one windy day with waves as high as the kayak. It's not a thousand dollar kayak, but if like us you can't spend that kind of money on a kayak, this is perfect.

not stable!
Bought this one and a Future beach Fusion 10. No comparison. The Fusion 10 is very stable. This one is far too easy to flip over. This one is going back for another Fusion 10.

great value
My wife and I bought 2 of these last year. they worked great for what we wanted. Casual recreational use. I also added some angler items to mine with no problem and it worked well with that as well. If you want to just get out on the water and not worry about any thing other than being there then this is a great choice at a good value.

Unstable for a Big Guy!
I bought this kayak because two friends had Pathfinder's and loved them. The Pathfinder is rated up to 275lbs. I'm 6'3" and weigh 240 lbs so I assumed the Pathfinder would work for me since I was under the limit. However, I soon realized once I was in the water that the closer you are to the weight limit the more unstable the kayak became. My friends had no problems with theirs and they average 170lbs. If you are close to the weight limit I would suggest getting a different kayak you can enjoy rather than having to struggle all day to keep it up right.
Cons: Cheap handles, Unstable at greater weight, Thin hull
Pros: Good Price, Good leg room, Lightweight
Bottom line: If you are under or around 200-210 lbs and want a cheap kayak to get on the water with this will work for you. If you are over 200-210 lbs buy another kayak.

Great first buy!
I've rented kayaks before but this is my first one purchased. Took it out for the first time on Lake Murray on a windy day and it was great! It's not perfect, of course, and tracking was a bit off but the water was choppy and it was quite windy, so no big surprise. Stable? Yes! I never felt like it was going to dump me out. I'm 6' tall, 225 lbs and I was comfortable for the 2 and half hours I was on the lake. The adjustable foot pedals are a nice option to have (I didn't even have to have them all the way to the end; had one or two notches to spare). I was quite impressed with such an economy model kayak. It is wonderful for beginners and I can't wait to get it on a river. Will I be taking it on through rapids? Of course not. But then that's not the kind of kayak you get at these prices. But for cruising on the lake or riding down a calm river, this fits the bill.

Great recreational kayak as expected
Many varied reviews about stability- from my experience those are all false. I felt very stable and it tracks good for an entry level kayak. I own 2 other kayaks and this one met my expectations. Kayak is very light and was super easy to load, unload, and put in the water. Bought it on sale and so far am very happy with the product. The seat is ok- no lazy boy type comfort but was able to be on for over an hour with no issues. Can't wait to take it out again.

Excellent Value/Great for Beginners
So clearly there are alot of mixed reviews about this product. I purchased mine last summer and quickly fell in love. This is a great kayak for all novice kayakers. This was my first one and I purposely purchased a less expensive one because I have never kayaked before. I was expecting alot less than what the Pathfinder gave me. The tracking is pretty poor, but the hull is almost flat so it should be expected. Water does easily get inside (from paddeling, not water splashing up). Other than those two things, this kayak is great.I have even gone out in the ocean a couple of times with it. It wasn't easy getting through the surf ( I sank alot), but once I got through it was great. If you try hard enough to get through the surf then this kayak can have you out in the ocean with the dolphins. I am always out in the inlet and on the rivers and never have any problems. Spacious opening to get in and out. The adjustable foot holds are very convenient. Very light weight.
