Rated 4 out of 5 by John 67 This product worked great in the soil conditions where we camped.
This steel tent stake, because of it's shape, worked will in the sandy soil with the other tent stakes that came with the tent. The orignal tent stakes are only about 1/8 of an inch in diameter and don't hold will in sandy soil.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jalama Dude Good for loose soil or sand only
I bent all 4 that I purchased b/c the ground was hard. These would only be good for loose soil or sand.

Rated 3 out of 5 by PhotoCal Good but not great
I purchased these stakes because they were the biggest and most expensive Dick's carried. I needed firm, heavy stakes to help protect a new greenhouse in our back yard. Unfortunately, two of the eight stakes I bought bent going into the still partially frozen ground - so they're not as sturdy as I'd hoped. I'm sure for average summertime camping they're fine... but for my heavier duty project, they weren't quite enough. I'm not disappointed enough to knock them, but sharing the word that they're not super weight.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Papabear Nice length but flimsy
Needed stakes to anchor a fence bottom, so got these. Liked the long length to provide a nice secure grip in the soil, but found them a bit flimsy when pounding them in, They would be better if heavier gauge steel were used since when hammering these into dense soil or clay, the tops tend to bend over, making the stake useless or at least problematic

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ryan Works Perfect for Sand
I used this product while staying on a beach it worked pefectly in the sand but does have problems in rocky areas. This is one of the most cost efficent stakes for use in sand. No other stakes suggested for sand compares to the cost effectiveness of this stake . Make sure you have a shovel to dig out stake because it definately holds in the ground.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Bluestar Servicable with a big "IF"
The major advantage to these tent pegs is thier length and that is why I purchaed 9 of them for a camping trip to the ocean front. We expected to be tenting on sand where the length would be an all out necessity but as it turned out our site was on hard pack. The down side was that they were not stiff enough to penatrate the soil and several of them simply crumpled when we attempted to drive them in. Botton line is that they are OK "if" they are used only in soft soil, sand or forest floor where their length will provide extra grip. Don't waste your money if you plan to use them in a compacted, gravel or rocky area or subject them to more than moderate pounding with a soft mallet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Treads Lightly Functional solution for sand
Inexpensive solution for staking your tent in sand. These are a MUST if setting up a tent on sand in windy conditions. During a VERY windy (20knots sustained the first night) camping trip on Ocracoke, our 6 man tent held up perfectly (several tents at the campground had collapsed due to wind). They will bend if you are not careful, but otherwise they work great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by J Not very good in hard ground conditions.
The first one I used bent double on the first hit. Guess I'll have to go and buy another brand. The others bent just as well.
