Rated 4 out of 5 by Great value This is a great tool at a great price. The only downside to purchasing this over the more expensive ones I saw in-store is that this lacks a striker to use. Others have a piece of steel that comes with them to strike with. Initially, I figured I'd just use my knife (which works great, by the way), but then I realized I wasn't so keen on damaging my knives' blades by using them to strike this with. So, overall, if you don't mind damaging your blade (or you have a cheap knife or pice of metal to use) then buy this immediately. It works great and it is definitely sold at an amazingly low price. Just keep in mind that you might want to spring for the slightly more expensive one to get a striker with it. February 20, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Purchase This was the best thing we could have bought to start our fire. It only takes a matter of seconds to start a fire and before it took us about 15 mins to start the fire. May 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Never leave home without a way to start Personally, I never go off road, or leave home in winter, without a way to start a fire. These magnesium starters work great, just be sure you have a good knife, too. You'll need to scrape some material off the magnesium block, then you'll need to create a spark by scraping the knife down the striker. You'll need some tinder, but it won't have to be dead dry. The mag burns hot enough to dry out your tiinder. Be safe. June 26, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Half the Package for Half the Price Assuming that you will always have a knife or other steel handy (Not so easy with airline travel to your destination) this is a great tool for the money. April 23, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Happy with it Happy with it , my 10 year old has used it to start our campfire with it ! Worked great! November 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great little fire starter I have used this starter once while camping and it only took me a couple minutes to get a fire going (and this was my first time using a fire starter). Sparks very easily and the spark is big, so the fire can get started quicker. I use the keychain to latch to my backpack. Overall gets the job done very well. August 4, 2014
