Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Massage Roller Very happy with my purchase. Would not hesitate to buy again. I definitely recommend this original blue version for anyone trying to decide between this or the extra firm black model. Both are excellent products but the blue one will be much better suited for most users. I own both versions and use the blue one 90% of the time. I use the black one after loosening up with the blue one and to target my glutes and quadriceps. Love them both! March 6, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great! But not for everyone. A very interesting device, but you have to use it properly. It is much firmer than I imagined, especially the fingers/bumps, so using one's entire body weight might be too much. Having said that, it works great for deep tissue massage, and I can manipulate it to exactly where I need it. To be effective, it hurts--just like deep tissue massage--and one has to have the discipline to roll it very slowly over those painful parts. Again, just like real massage! I imagine most people would do well to at least start with a less aggressive foam roller, but for those who can tolerate it, this thing is great. It can work out specific kinks, and I get to control how much and for how long. October 17, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Does a great job once you figure it out I bought this to go along with P90X2 because it's used in just about all of the workouts in that program. At first, it was downright painful and left my back and arms covered in weird quarter-sized bruises. After a few uses, though, I started to get the hang of it and found out what all the hype was about - it works! After a half-hour session on my back, shoulders, spine, and lats, I felt all warm and fuzzy and sleepy, the way that I normally feel after a full body massage. Now, anytime I have a tight or sore muscle, I'll spend 5-10 minutes working that spot and enjoying the relief that comes. It's still painful on some sensitive parts of my body (like my calves and IT band), but I think that'll get better over time. If you buy this and find the pain to be too intense, you can cover it with a towel to soften the pressure a bit. October 16, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Suffering no more!!! I'm ashamed to admit how long I've been in pain and suffering with overall stiffness even though I've been working out, getting regular massages and wondering if this was just a sign of aging. Today I purchased this body roller OMG I feel like a new woman!!! No more stiff hamstrings and,Achy feet and calf muscles. I will do this daily full body ! thank goodness for the article in westchester Magazine (June issue)! I've been blogging about it all day thank you now I can hopefully live pain free without Tylenol.Sometimes I thought I was arthritis but in fact it was muscle release that I needed and regular stretching just wasn't doing enough for me. Rated 5 out of 5 by Just what I needed I read many reviews about different types of rollers before I made this purchase. It seems like hardness or softness is really a personal preference. Every set of reviews I read had someone who gave it one star because they thought it was too hard or too soft. So I ended up with this RumbleRoller which got solid reviews for quality. It is plenty long, you can roll just about any part of your body with it. I've been using it the day after a hard workout when I know I have tightened up and yes it hurts a bit when I use it to remove adhesions in the muscle tissue, why wouldn't it? I have worked out routines that let me control the amount of pressure I'm putting on the muscle which let's me ease into the treatment gradually. They include a little booklet that has some illustrations of different ways of using the roller which are helpful for a start but I've modified them for my use. One thing they don't mention is that you can use the roller against a wall for your back. I think that gives you more control over the pressure than simply putting your weight on it while you're lying on the floor. I'm a cyclist so I use this more on my legs than other areas. After using it on my calves, quads and glutes I feel much more limber when I start my next workout. The fingers on the roller do a good job of reaching deep into your tissue. I have used a smooth foam roller a few times and I like this one much more. A few users mentioned an unwanted odor from the roller. I didn't even notice an odor at all so maybe they have more sensitive noses than I do. November 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Rolling home message solution I have significant back issues requiring focused exercises / therapy to strengthen specific muscle groups including core. This message roller (large size) is very helpful in preparing muscle (warm-up) for my workout and for stretching and message after (warm-down). It seems well made. My only issue is the $80 price tag which far too high for a foam rubber roller September 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Thank you! The pain is intense, but I think that is just the roller doing its job. It feels so good when I can feel the knots give way to the pressure of the roller. I especially like the exercises that work my butt and hamstrings. I'm petite and 5'3" so the small roller fit me perfectly. As it is though, my legs just fit on the roller, so if I was bigger then I would want the longer one so that I could still do both legs at once. February 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Product Good deep muscle massage. I use it before and after a workout for more blood flow and less soreness. Plus, a good back popper if you have back problems, releases the pain. Also at first it'll be a little painful, but that's because your muscles are tense. You get used to it quickly and its cheaper than buying all the other rollers until you reach this level. March 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great home gym and recovery addition I have had back, neck, and shoulder issues for which i see a massage therapist. The roller is a great tool to help bridge the gap between sessions and keep things loosened up on a daily basis. For those who think it is painful, you have to approach it like any other excercise equipment. Make sure you are using it correctly, don't over do it, and there can always be some amount of discomfort when using anything for the first time. If it is really painful it may be simply an indication of the need to use it. I mostly used it for my back area but realizing with my massage therapist that i need to work on other areas due to a knee issue and understanding more about how muscle fascia works it was painful at first but now I find it invaluable to use rumble roller and not just a roller! Rated 5 out of 5 by Completely changed my post-workout recovery I almost returned the Rumble Roller after my first use. Found it more painful than expected. My personal trainer convinced me to keep it. SO glad I listened to him. Yes, it's kind of killer, so you have to ease into it. Start by doing SMR on a basic foam roller everyday. Then add the Rumble Roller on specific body parts as they quite being affected by the basic roller. I usually use it the day after an intense leg workout (and a basic foam roller right after the workout). And any other time I feel knots or tightening of the muscles. Totally worth the investment.
