GOOD SYSTEM, BUT PROS: 1- All parts firmly and safely packed? 2- Excellent assembly instructions? 3- Excellent In-Store Service CONS: 1- Very noticeable pole flexing? 2- Backboard padding cost extra? 3- 54? Backboard is just too small? This is an impressive system for most people and it looks great. Following the detailed instructions the assembly went smoothly. First, the anchor bolt assembly was installed. Using extra cement, I made mine larger than the directions called for. After a few days for the cement to cure the pole parts were attached together and the pole lifted and bolted to the anchor assembly. Then the backboard was attached to the pole using the tailgate of my truck and three (3) strong folks. A few more installation incidentals were completed and the games began? Right away I noticed unexpected backboard movement on shots. I checked all the connections and saw no problems. A closer inspection revealed that most all the backboard movement could be directly attributed to the pole flexing. I then checked the pole?s specs and discovered it was made of 14 gage steel (ouch). Perhaps most folks would not be disappointed with the movement; however, I am. Also, without padding, the backboard?s lower corners are sharp, particularly considering the height adjustments. At extra cost I installed the universal backboard pads. Considering the above factors, with backboard padding, I can recommend the Goalrilla GS54c. This is good system and very much satisfies my grandson and the neighborhood. But, personally I?m disappointed. After additional research and learning all Goalrilla anchor systems are the same, I have ordered the Goalrilla DV72E1 that comes with a 7 gage pole. Maybe, that?ll make me happy (?). April 30, 2013
