This was a great bat . My team was so suprised of the performance of this bat because they were so used to the combat composite series. once we made the change we went from hitting 8 homeruns to 17 homeruns. We also had the most exciting line drives. waste no time and buy this bat. And remember do not pay attention to the price, but the bat is definetly worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jakeoliver01 Great Bat!!
I bought this bat in 2012 for my boys who, at the time, were 8 and 6. My oldest boy bats for power but the bat was a little too big at that time. He still hit well but nothing overly exciting. The bat was just too big for my youngest so he did not use it at all.
This year my oldest boy is 9 @ 4' 3" and 62 pounds. We coached the Rookie Team (machine pitch) again this year and we called this bat "the magic bat". It has broken in nicely and has the trampoline effect just like they say. My oldest boy is stronger this year and finished the season with 12 home runs and had an average of 900. He's hit 3 home runs in one game and several multiple home run games. Every time he got up to bat, I'd say "that is the farthest he's hit the ball". It seems he hit the ball farther each time at bat.
At times, I felt bad for the other teams as they would put two kids in left field (he is a dead pull hitter) but he would still smack it over their heads. He would say "daddy they tell their player to back up but I still hit it over their heads". My youngest boy started to use the bat and he had great success with it as well. It is still a bit too much bat for my youngest as he is 4' and 55 pounds.
We let some of our new to baseball kids use the bat as the barrel is so large they would make some type of contact with the ball. We turned some very inexperienced hitters to hard hitters with this bat.
The All-Stars start this week and we are very excited to use this bat. The other kids from our other league teams who made the All-Star team are also excited to use the bat as they saw how my boy hit this year.
Very much worth the investment. It is very exciting to know your kid can hit the ball hard every time they step to the plate. Don't think about it, just buy it.
Take some and break the bat in. I just simply hit buckets of balls to my boys in the back yard to get it broke in. We never used it in the cages or on practice machines. I let them use it for live batting practice with hard balls but never for the full practice.
You'll be happy you bought it!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Coach J Composite?
I purchased this bat in the beginning of 2013 for my 12 yo. During winter workouts, the ball never really jumped off of the bat and when the season rolled around, the bat never lived up to its expectations. This is my first experience with an expensive composite bat and I was not impressed. I'm going back to alloy/aluminum.

Very nice bat, but wished we would have stuck with a 28-18 bat instead of going with the 29-19 for my 10 y/o in mid season. Demarini bats are great though and will continue buying them, but sizing the bat is the key.

This 2013 CF5 big barrel is great. No real break in period awesome pop right out of the wrapper. $300 for a bat is pricy but it seems to be the norm these days.
