Rated 5 out of 5 by Cuddeback Ambush IR VERY EASY to use So far so good with the Ambush. I was considering other, less expensive cameras, but I was given a Dick's gift card for $50 bucks and decided to upgrade to a Cuddeback. It is SUPER easy to set up and takes great day and night time pics. I inadvertently set it to the pics/video setting and got both a picture and 10 second video...pretty cool! I changed it though to just pics as I thought the extended exposure to the IR lights would spook the deer. I like it and would definitely get another. October 16, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Comparison Compared many cam lately. Cuddeback seemed to take good pix if not better. Like the easy removal from tree. - 1 sec. delay is good. A bit blurry, but for a low end just fine. But if you want to remove the SD card and view in the field using a typical digital camera, it won't happen. Could be just my camera, but all other cams SD worked fine. Sales person and another hunter, while returning said item, confirmed that NO trail cam SD card worked in their cameras. Well, sorry. All I can report is that the Cuddeback Ambush IR/5MP is the only one besides Bushnell, Browning, Moultrie, Primos, Covert, Hunten and even Wildgame that the SD card did not work. Give them a have 90 days at Dicks...... no I don't work or represent them. Trust the attached pix appears fuller than on this review....... November 18, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not what I had hoped for I can walk directly at the camera in the daylight and it does not take my picture until I am within about 8 to 10 feet of the camera. I have had deer tracks in the snow within about 10 feet in front of the camera and get no picture. I like how easy it is to use and the battery life is good but the detection range is very short and night pictures are poor quality. November 17, 2014

Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't waste your money! I bought two of these cameras in late summer. They have fast shutter speed during daylight hours. At night, almost all of the photos are black and very grainy. You cannot make out if you are looking at a deer or a raccoon. There is just enough IR to make the animals eyes glow. The WGI camera and Moultree cameras blow this model away! If I thought I could return these to Dicks, I would. Instead, I am stuck with $200 in junk cameras! November 22, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not Worth the Money I paid $160 for this camera and it is not worth the money. Day pics were ok quality and night pics were blurry and hard to even tell if it had horns etc. Video is ok. It only picks up movement from about 15 feet away and they must be directly in front of camera. I even shimmed the camera to get the perfect angle...Took me 20 minutes to set up because it would not recognize me walking in front of it. I eventually put corn at the base of the feeder to get pics. Definitely not worth the money or hassle. June 3, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poorly designed and built I was very disappointed in this product. The detection range was about 15 feet but after I did the firmware upgrade, it worked up to 20 feet. Still not far enough for me. The unit sometimes makes a clicking noise when taking a picture depending if the IR filter is needed or not - it is a mechanical arm that swings the filter in front of the lens and is quite audible. The SD card compartment door does not latch tightly and can open easily with a slight bump. The unit seems to reset itself as well as I had to set the time often. I had fresh batteries and ensured the battery pack was in. The battery pack does not seem to hold tight against the internal connectors so I think that was the issue. I returned it after 3 days and got a full refund. June 17, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by seems ok Product seems to be ok for head on shots , and they have to be close. it reads to set up not on trail but off and do like a side shot and it picks things up that way. well I have it hanging in a well whitetail traffic area and i'm not getting photos, maybe the deer have not been there, i'm getting shots of me checking camera which means it's working ok for me. set up was faily easy. Rated 3 out of 5 by High Expectations I've seen pics from Cuddebacks in the past and they always looked good, so I had high expectations. So I bought two of the Ambush IR cameras hoping to cover more ground with pre-season scouting. So far the results have not met expectations. The night pics are grainy and the shutter speed seems slow. I've had too many pics with only the back half of the deer's body. July 21, 2014
