Rated 4 out of 5 by Great for getting started.. Caught several fish on this set up,holding up great so far. May 29, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Eh The upper rod piece comes loose very easily, and if you don't tighten it down regularly, you will cast it into the water. Also, as a result of casting the upper section of rod into the water, it is breaking the second section where it fits, making the fit even worse. In addition to that, the reel is junk. This was a gift to me, which is the only reason I own it. Spend $150-$200 and get a combo you will be happy with. May 24, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by You get what you pay for... It's no Orvis but good enough for the beginner. I bought this for my son to get him started. He's happy with it and so am I. April 21, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Just what I wanted at a great price! I was looking for an inexpensive fly rod to carry with me on vacations. This kit filled the bill. I was able to keep my casting form in shape and not be concerned about possible risk while traveling. I broke my last rod during a freak accident and needed something quick. Ordering online and picking up the fly fishing kit saved me time and money. March 4, 2016

Rated 4 out of 5 by Good starting set to try fly fishing.. I purchased this product because I was going to be taking my son up to trout country soon, and figured it would be a good a time as any to try my hand at fly fishing. I was debating between this combo and a much higher priced combo at another retailer. Although undoubtedly if I spent three times a much I would get a much better product, I was pleasantly surprised about this combo. The rod fit together well, and was easy to set up. I didn't notice any quality issues. Pro: * It comes with everything you need; backing, line, leader, flys (including a wooly bugger) * Reel works right or left hand retrieve * Rod breaks into 3 easy to store pieces Con: * would have liked a rod case/bag * a fly case would have been nice, instead of an 8 compartent tray. Still, I appreciate even that. * Since this is aimed at a rank beginner, a "How to fly cast" pamphlet would have been helpful. On balance, I think this is worth the money, especially if you are unsure about fly fishing or if you know that your son or daughter will be begging for a rig within a fortnight. The deciding factor for me was that for about the cost of a reel from most retailers, or the valet parking at anywhere with "outfitters" in their name, I got a serviceable rig that I can pass onto my son or use as my backup rig should I enjoy fly fishing as much as I think I will.
