Try this. Put it on a hard surface. Knock on it with your knocking knuckles until it hurts. Then move it out of the way and knock just as hard as you just did with it.
YOU WILL GET THE POINT.
Or, you can watch the YouTube video on the All-Star, for you I would recommend the former, then Google d3o, and you will see this is the cornerstone material of the future.
I like Xprotex overall, 4/14/14 they release several new products. My 10 year old catcher wears the All-star above the elbow facing forward for blocking bouncers, xprotex elbows for diving, and the xprotex wrist guards to protect the wrist bones.
All-star has a new model of wrist guard with a velcro strap to secure them. I would't put the evo-shield on such a small area - its disperses the impact but does basically nothing to reduce the force. He's comfortable with the tank top vest with the four pieces of the cast material, but I'm certain he won't shake off getting hit in the back by a pitch the same way he did when wearing a McDavid goalie? shirt which has 14mm dual density hex pads.. Ball hit him half on/half off, if it had been xprotext the three to four inches of 1/4 inch hardened cast-like material would have dug-in and probably bruised a few ribs.

The sleeve appears to be poorly constructed and feels cheap and brittle. My 8 year old son uses it to protect his catching forearm (he plays catcher in a pitching machine league. 42mph) he borrowed an arm guard (i dont know the manufacturer) last season from a teammate which was really well designed and protected him from scrapes and bruises. This season he hasn't had the ball hit his arm yet however this sleeve covers a much smaller portion of his arm than the one last season and feels more flimsy. I'm worried that he's not protected as well as he was last season.
