I've had the GB World Platinum for three years. The unit has fallen onto cart paths and into mud. Still works great. Battery good for two rounds till recharge is necessary. If you touch the screen when in screen saver mode it comes back to full brightness. Touch the yardage and it goes into green mode. Front middle and back yardages are displayed. Once you buy it, it's yours. You don't have to keep paying year after year. No flyovers, no high def mode. Just good accurate yardage info.

I bought a GB WP 3yrs ago, The unit was accurate but, first thing I noticed it would shut off bout hole 13, would have to start up again. The screen saver would make it impossible to read, worked well in sun lite. emailed customer support and they had me down load the software and courses, this fixed the shutting down for a year or so, but not the screen saver. I was in another store this spring and there was a different model on sale, SO THINKING THEY HAD FIXED the problems I bought it. I COULDN'T BELIVE THEY STILL HAVE the same problems even with a different model. Looks like some others are having them also. I WILL NOT BUY A 3rd.

This gps unit gives great yardage, auto locates courses, but is almost impossible to read in full sunlight. The full illumination only lasts about 15 seconds, then the screen goes almost dark.
When ya go from one hole to the next, the screen is lite for about 15 seconds, then goes into a power saving mode that is hard to see.
I bought it because a friend of mine had an older unit that was great. This one is a pain to use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Ortnpalms Not state of the art
The add boasts state of the art screen technology, but it more like 1990 technology. You cannot move the displayed are with a swipe motion. Forget about two finger gestures (pinch or expand). The worst is that at you move down the fairway the screen displays what is behind you instead of what is in front of you. Not worth the money.

A great little GPS. Works flawlessly, very accurate and the improvements are noticeable. All you do is turn it on, it selects your course and hole. Does everything anyone could expect or want it to do: gives accurate yardages, keeps score and measures shot distance. Touchscreen is responsive and easy to see. With no membership fees, a course library (pre-installed) of over 40,000 courses world wide and a rechargeable battery that last three solid rounds, you couldn't ask for more and I couldn't be more pleased with this GPS. Is it perfect, I'm sure some may say no...but for me, a clear yes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Joe Golfer Screen saver ruins useage
You can't turn off the screen saver, and the screen saver maximum time delay is only 15 seconds. So EVERY time you want to look at the device to get your distances, you must pick it up and touch something/anything to turn off the screen saver. But beware, it's a touch screen, so touching the screen to turn off the screen saver may activate another unwanted function. Furthermore, touching the screen instigates two measurements, one from your current location to where you touched, and another from there to the center of the green. Those measurements on the screen make it difficult to see anything else, and it's almost impossible to turn them off once you accidentally touched the screen. I took mine back, and I love my new Garmin G6 !!
