Cant beat a Summit!!
after asking other hunters and doing my homework on climbers, i believe i made a good choice in the viper for my first one. after looking at the summit open shot and the more expensive viper models, the original viper basically does the same job and saves you about a hundred bucks. i had this stand outta the box, put together, and up and down a tree in the backyard in about 45 min. all the parts were in the box and dicks did a great job with quick shipping at the cheapest ship rate i could find. highly recommend this stand for anybody new to climbers.

Missing parts very frustrating
We tried to assemble the tree stand when we got home and found there were 2 missing parts. Disappointed after spending $200. Now we have get more parts to try and make it work.

Excellent for the Price
This Summit Climber is excellent for it price. Dick's has it on sale at their stores for $149.00. The quality of the climber is excellent. Its simpler to use than the SD. Same capacity and width as the SD. Very easy and quick to assemble. A great purchase for any bow hunter. The only I would recommend is to bring (2) short ratchet straps with you and strap each sections to the tree. This will keep you more secure.

Awesome stand!
I bought this stand and was ready to hunt in 30 minutes, its very easy yo set up out of the box. Its just as easy to se up on a tree. I feel really comfortable once up in my tree, stand is real sturdy. Also packing up the stand takes only seconds, at 26lbs its not heavy I generally walk a 1/2 mile or more with it, no problem with the weight. All around great stand for gun or bow hunting.

Great Stand for the price
This is a great stand for the price. I looked at climbing stands for a while before I decided on a summit. Then I had to choose which summit. The wife gave me a blank check, said get what you want. I was going to get the Summit SD, but the Classic was on sale. With the difference between the SD and the sale price of the classic being $100, it was a pretty easy decission. They are essentially the same stand,, only the Classic is made of steel and weights 7 pounds more than the SD. Where I hunt, we are not hiking miles to get on stand, so losing 7 pounds was not worth the extra cash. If you hunt somewhere you have to hike up a lot of hills or long distances, I'd go with the SD.
Very sturdy stand. I'm not a little guy, weighing in at 270 lbs. There is still plenty of room in this stand for me. Seat is comfortable, but it tends to get in the way while climbing. The stand is partial to rough bark trees as it does tend to slip on smooth bark trees. But once you're in and set-up you are good, it doesn't move or squeek.
The directions are difficult, but a little common sense can get you through them. The straps work for where I hunt. If I had to walk long distances, I'd replace with aftermarkets. The strap used to hold them together while transporting tends to slip, but if you wrap it several times before feeding it throught eh keeper grip, it holds ok.
Do yourself a favor and get a can of expanding foam and fill all the tubing of the stand (do not fill the tubes where the steel cables go, but if you mess up and over fill them, just pour some acetone down and it will desolve the foam). This will deaden the klinks and klanks while trying to set the stand up.
I've only had this stand for a few months, but I've already taken three deer between bow season and muzzleloader. Can't wait for gun season.

Not the greatest
I am not impressed with this stand at all. I would expect a lot more out of it for 200 dollars. It is very heavy and the straps dig into your neck and shoulders. The instructions don't help any when assembling it. I would recommend spending a little more for a lighter one.

Summit is the best
Perfect stand for our location, very easy to put together.
Very quiet stand, doesn't creak or chatter in the tree.
This would be the perfect stand for someone starting out hunting, it also comes with a basic safety harness, that actually isn't worthless.
I recommend this purchase to anyone searching for a dependable climber.

I can't believe that I didn't get one of these sooner!! Simple and quick to put up. I feel really safe in it, and I got use to it rather fast too. I'm glad that I bought it.
