Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 46 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality, poor service - BEWARE! My wife and I bought this and the A35T treadmill hoping to work out together. After 1 week, the technician came, delivered it, and put it together. After he started it up to run, the screen turned on but none of the features worked; the machine was unusable. EPIC/ICON tech support stated that the "programs were probably not downloaded onto the console" so they shipped us a new console, which took a week. When the console arrived, they stated it would be another 4 days until a tech could come install the console so I did it myself. After hooking it up, the exact same problem! I spent 1 hr, 50 minutes on hold waiting to speak to a supervisor, until someone picked up (at 10:30AM) and stated that a supervisor did not come in for another 30 minutes. While on hold, I had disassembled the entire machine myself and put it back in the box. 2 weeks and $1100 later and no working elliptical. My wife and I are returning it to Dick's this afternoon. What a disappointment! Be VERY cautious about this entire brand. Tech support is less than helpful; they are rude and do not seem to have any level of competence. November 8, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't do it! My husband and I searched for weeks to find the right elliptical and with the mixed reviews on most of them it's pretty difficult to make a decision. We ended up going with this one because we loved it in the store and if anything happened we would be able to take it back. Set up took a couple of hours, but was not a difficult process. After workout number 2, the noises started. First a clicking, then followed up by a grinding. We took it apart and regressed it. The noises stopped....for 10 minutes. We called out the service technicians 3 times with multiple diagnosis. Each time it takes them about 10-15 days to give you an appointment time that is a 4-6 hour window during the week. After two months and no fix we packed it up and took it back. The key indicator was when the service company arrived the second time and said "Oh no not another EPIC." We are currently looking to replace it with a Sole machine. Do yourself a favor and listen to the reviews! July 14, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good but have reservations We purchased this a week ago, so this review is preliminary. We paid for the delivery and install which I would recommend. Just watch them to make sure they are doing their job , and remind them to GREASE ALL the joints. We used it for only three days and the unit started knocking in the front and squeaking in the back. same "clicking" noise that all these reviews are giving. We were 10 seconds from calling and having it taken back and get our money back, but my husband decided he would take apart the joints and try greasing them. With a good quality grease. not the cheap stuff that comes with it. Once we got them apart, we saw that there was NO grease. NONE. We greased it up and put it back together and all the noise and knocking and squeaking went away . It is as quiet as a lamb. Now, if you have one and continue to use it with the clicking and noise, try greasing it on all the joints ASAP. If continued use without grease , you will grind down the bearings and the parts and they will have to be replaced. Also, check the bolts. We found many bolts that were loose. This also, over time, will damage your parts if not tightened properly. All in all I am glad I got the install cause they did the bulk of the work, but the quality was terrible. I still worry about what ELSE they did not do. Time will tell. I am glad it was just a greasing problem and not a product defect problem. Not yet anyway. April 23, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not very sturdy I had this product for about 2 weeks and am returning to the store. Initially the elliptical seemed of sound construction. However, after several workouts it began to click around the arm/flywheel area. The track also appeared less sturdy. This eventually culminated in the wheel of the pedal coming off of the track mid-workout. I tried to slow down my pace and use exercise in a slower, more controlled manor, but the wheel came off of the track twice more before I finally became fed up and decided to return it. Rated 2 out of 5 by Had to return At first, I loved this machine. It seemed to be sturdy, well built, and it looks great. However, after a few uses, I started hearing a clicking sound that was coming from the pedals. I contacted the company and they sent me some teflon lube to put on the track, which didn't fix the problem. I then arranged for a technician to come look at the machine, and the technician could not figure out why the machine was making this noise. Now, after only having the machine for 6 weeks, I have no choice but to return it. I would not purchase this brand again. I am really disappointed that a brand new machine would develop a problem that an experienced technician could not fix. October 19, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by poor factory quality control I purchased a display model EPIC A30E from Dicks at a significant price reduction. It may have been a return. The problem it had was what is mentioned in most of the poor reviews. Clunking and grinding noise and in some cases freezing. It took me less that an hour to figure out the problem and fix it myself. The heavy inertia flywheel was coming in contact with the bottom end of the bracket on the right side. I loosened the two nuts holding the flywheel in place. These nuts where very loose. I raised the left side so that the right bottom pulled away from the bracket and re-tightened the nuts at a much greater torque. I was worried about belt alignment among other things but the adjustment was so slight that there seems to be no affect. It now works very well and with no noise. I'm assuming the proper nut tightening for the flywheel was overlooked at the factory. If you chose to purchase the EPIC A30E re-tighten the flywheel nuts before using. Image included is a rough representation of the problem. December 27, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Glad I bought this. It looks and feels like a gym quality elliptical. I had a limited budget and I thought I would have to buy something used. I was pleasantly surprised to find this quality at this price. As soon as I tried it I knew it was the one for me. Pros: I like the frame, it has a sturdy gym quality feel. I like the features, resistance levels, incline levels and fan. I have not used ifit yet but I am glad it's there. I like the footprint. Ellipticals are big but it doesn't take to much room. Cons: My husband likes it to and now I have to compete for my turn in the morning. March 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love It!!! I just recently purchased this elliptical and I love it!! I tested out over 10 ellipticals and this by far was one of the better ones! I have a young daughter, so I don't get the chance to go to the gym as much as I would like, but by buying this elliptical it feels like I am at the gym! It is so quiet which is great, because I like to get my workout in early in the morning and do not want to disturb my daughter sleeping. I would recommend this to anyone!! October 1, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Could be, Should be Better This machine looks great, and has great features! But, we've had to call the manufacturer to have a serviceman come out to repair it twice, and we've only owned it for about 2 months. The first repair was to have all of the factory assembled parts tightened. It was making a loud clunking sound, and didn't feel as stable as it should. The first repair visit took care of this fairly well. The second repair visit hasn't actually taken place yet, but what we have found is that the incline does not adjust automatically with each workout. The incline works only if you manually adjust it using the buttons on the handle. We are hoping the second repair visit will fix this. Now, the machine is also advertised as compatible with iFit. The deal we purchased included a free year of iFit membership. It's a good thing it was free (usually $100/year), because the machine is not fully compatible with the iFit Live feature that allows you to follow your route in Google Street-view. In fact, iFit has failed to update my stats at all. It shows that I have used my machine negative 1 hour and 59 minutes (apparently, as I use the machine, I am traveling back in time). Forgive my sarcasm, but I wish my $1000 purchase worked right the first time. If there are fixes for the troubles that I have described, I will be a happy customer. If not, I will return the elliptical for a different product. May 4, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Would be great if everything worked. This is a nice model but unfortunately mine has several frustrating problems. The incline doesn't work automatically with the workouts. Ifit is a nice feature if It worked consistently. Most of the time my machine is not connected and I need to get yet another token. Only for my workouts not to download, And none of them are logged in ifit. Epic customer service is a joy to deal with. Had to redo all of the same things I've done dozens of times over the past few weeks before she believed it didn't work, Ran nearly a mile while she listened to prove the incline doesn't work. So after an hour on the phone they are sending a new console which will resolve the Incline issue, but probably not the Ifit issues. But she was kind enough to tell me I'm welcome to call back again when the new one doesn't work. I heard a lot of excuses instead of getting the issues resolved. Too much frustration for the price.
