EPIC A17R Recumbent Exercise Bike 3.4 5 16 16
Works great I love the bike. It works great. A few things I do not like about it is the smell of the seats. The smell is very overpowering. My husbands believes it smells like mold, but I think the product they used to make the plastic is just very very strong. The seat angle could be a little bit better, more like the professional gyms use. But other than that overall, I like it. I like the fan. Sometimes I forget that it has one until I get overheated then remember the fan. April 7, 2013
I loved the bike This bike was easy to understand, and worked wonderful. It gave me a good, low impact work out, and has a tone of features. I just used the free ifit sign up and it all worked fine. The bike has 34 different works out built in and 4 you can modify yourself. It is well worth the money and your body will thank you. March 30, 2013
Nice bike, but quality seems to be sub par I purchased this bike with very high expectations. However, iFit is a nightmare to deal with and I pretty much gave up on the iFit. Now, 3 months later, a mysterious thump has surfaced..very aggravating. I am considering selling the bike and going with my first choice of exercise bike. March 22, 2013
Epic bike is all that I wanted This bike is perfect for my in-home exercise area. It is quiet, smooth, and provides a good workout -- as good as I could get at a gym. It has program options, which I haven't tried yet, as I am still getting used to exercising regularly. It has an mp3 input & speakers which I don't use because I use headphones and I watch movies. There are two accessory holders where I keep the remote controls. The little fan does a good job. The timer, heart rate sensor, distance, speed monitors all work well. The one thing that was a little hard to figure out is that when you start up, it says it is on level one, but until you increase it to another level and then back it down, it is hard to pedal, so the default level is maybe 4 or 5. The instructions say it takes two people to assemble it, which is correct. A ratchet set is much better than the allen wrenches that come with it. As long as you follow the directions it is not that hard to put together. My husband and I are bothing using it. It is very easy to adjust the seat with the lever (no holes and pins). It doesn't make any noise at all and doesn't disturb the other person. March 3, 2013
We like this product. The bike was very easy to assemble. Easy to connect to the internet. We chose the I-Fit Free sign-up for now. The machine itself is very quiet. The electric cooling fan is a bit noisy on high, but cools well. February 17, 2013
Good Assembly was easy - the tools it came with worked fine and I had no need to use my own tools other than a Philips head screw driver. The machine is very quiet - I put it in a spare bedroom on the 2nd floor at the top of the stairs. Until I plugged in my iPhone into the speakers, my wife sitting in the family room couldn't hear it at all. The speakers are what they are - 2, 2inch speakers - nothing great, but beats using headphones. I found the lowest resistance to be a little difficult. I'm not over weight by any means, but definitely a bit out of shape. The instruction manual for the assembly was good. The instruction manual for using it; not so much. My only con is the interface. I was able to get the iFit integration to work. Created an account on their website, mapped out a route. Setup Wifi on the bike, attached the bike to the iFit account and with my iPad, I biked through a path using Google Maps Street View. The con comes in that how to navigate the iFit settings on the bike isn't exactly strait forward. After you tie the bike to iFit, you need to actually log into your user on the bike to see the maps you create on the iFit website. Makes sense, but isn't exactly evident on the interface. All in all; having had a gym membership, its not to far off from the bikes I used there. February 4, 2013
Epic A17R I am very happy with the product. I am not so happy with the IFIT system. It took them 40 minutes for their help desk to hook it up ti wifi. Still haven't figured hw to navigate the programs. It seems that I am not only one have problems by the reviews on their site. It will be an add feature if I can ever figure it out. January 21, 2013
Good except pedal resistance and iFit My wife and I bought this bike after looking at everything that was available at local stores. We like all the features it has. The issues we have are mentioned by others. 1) The bike is hard to pedal. I'm reasonably fit, and find myself quickly tired. I don't use any setting higher than 8, and find myself mostly between 2 and 6. My wife can't pedal long, even at 1 or 2. I will be calling Epic (i.e. NordicTrack / Icon) to see what can be done. I took the side panels off to see how it works and if there's something I could adjust, but there's just a servo motor that pulls on a cable that goes into the braking mechanism. So either the bearings are low grade and have inherently high resistance, or the brakes (eddy mechanism) always are resisting to some level. 2) Google Street View has not worked since early December when iFit redid their website, and they're not responding to posts or giving updates on their website forums. This was in my top features of why we bought this bike. I did have a cracked piece upon delivery, but a call to customer service got a replacement shipped quickly. If the resistance cannot be lessened, we will be returning it to the store. January 17, 2013
Do not buy any product with ifit Thought we had done our research in purchasing this bike. It had mixed reviews, but figured for the price it was worth the risk. Assembly was easy, but when tried to download the ifit site, it would not connect. Called ifit, they could not fix it either so they sent a new console. Can now connect, but will still not track. One of the main reasons for buying this bike was for the tracking and additional benefits linked with ifit system. It has been extremely frustrating and not worked since day one. And after Reading the support boards on ifit website, I'm not alone! Also I do not like that even in manual mode on the bike it just estimates the calories you burn. There is no way to plug in your personal info (age, weight, etc), for a more accurate account. Severely disappointed! Do not purchase! January 12, 2013
Great Bike I got this on the 2nd of January for our company?s fitness allowance. The box was quite heavy and required 2 people to get down stairs. Unless your abnormally strong or you take all the parts out of the box prior I would definitely recommend 2 people. After unpacking and looking over the instructions it took me maybe 1 hr to put together and was very easy. I would recommend a slightly better allen wrench because by the time I was done I had worn the ones it came with down quite a bit and they slipped in the bolts a few times. Once together the bike was whisper quiet so I was able to watch TV without adjusting TV the volume. The electronic control panel was easy to set up for the most part. Setting up the wireless internet was not the most intuitive thing as I have security on my wireless router that blocks unapproved mac addresses. Once I allowed it through it worked great. The fan has 2 speeds and puts out a decent amount of air and felt great after my first ride. The cups mounted to the back are not the strongest things in the world but they are not designed to hold a bowling ball in the first place. The sound system is good for what it is. The built in programs are quite good and you have a decent selection of them. I connected to iFit but didn?t really see the need to sign up for a subscription. The instruction manual is clear and concise and the package of hardware was neat and well labeled with a nice feature of built on thread locker compound on the bolts. All in all I would recommend this to anyone looking for a well-built bike that is easy to assemble and use. January 4, 2013
