Rated 5 out of 5 by "Just as Described" What a great rod. Multiple species uses. This rod can be used for many types of fishing and not just jigging. I paired it up with a Fin-Nor reel for west coast yellowtail and an occasional bluefin tuna. You can't beet an Ugly Stik for power and durability! February 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent rod with great price This is an excellent rod regardless of your skill level, from beginner to expert this rod will satisfy all. It can withstand anything and shipped in 2 days. Great buy!!! December 4, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ugly jigging I haven't had the opportunity to try it out just yet. Waiting on the rest of the materials to go with it i.e. line and reel. First appearance is that it looks great. It is stiff which it should be but plyable. All eyelets are securely fastened to the rod. Shipping time was ok android shows no sign of damage. Shakespeare makes excellent products. I love their ugly stick line of rods. They produce something for everyone just about. October 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by great rod for the price A great rod for the price. I have 3 tiger sticks of different lengths and weights for different fishing. All 3 have served me well in deep sea cod fishing, stripers , fluke, bluefish, albies, and assorted bottom fish. Excellent sensitivity and strength. Very balanced and have long butts for leverage. Buy it and you wont be disappointed. September 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ugly Stick great for deep sea fishing I guess Dick's didn't like my last review where I disparaged the wharf rats who stole my Ugly Stick and Penn GTI330 reel. That setup served me well for 10 years of deepsea fishing out of Gloucester, MA. The biggest I caught with it was a 15 lb cod. I have had no trouble with my Ugly Stick, which was a MH deepsea pole. Which is why I am looking to replace it - but this time beefing up the game. There have been 55lb halibut starting to be caught. Also I have seen tuna jumping out of the water one half mile off Race Point in Ptown. Perhaps jigging with a heavy setup could reel in a 50-100lb fish with 65lb Powerpro braid. I am interested in a jigging/spinning setup as I want to cast to the tuna as well as jig for deep sea monsters. I feel for the fisherman whose rod broke on a 10lb striper. That had to be a defect in the rod and he deserved a full refund plus some. I once had a new surf rod that snapped in half when the pole twisted a certain way while fighting a fish maybe 10 lbs. There had to be a radial defect in that pole. I don't remember the manufacturer. A lot of charter captains around here give their clients Ugly Sticks as they are reliable and reasonably priced. Good enough for me. I hope my review gets published this time. - Fred, Hubbardston, MA. April 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by awesome There is no way a 10 pound striper could break this rod. The rod must have been damaged or it's someone from another rod company that hates ugly stik for being so inexpensive and awesome! My rod works unbelievably well! Buy and be happy! January 29, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Warranty Bought this pole at Dick's for striper fishing. When I set on the very first fish (only a 10lb striper) the pole snapped in half. I contacted Shakespeare directly because of their five year warranty. I was told that I would have to send them the pole for their inspection. It would cost $7.99 for a mailing tube and $10 to mail by UPS, and I would have to include a check for $9.99 for return mail. Kind of expensive for a $70 pole. Took the pole back to Dick's and got a full refund right on the spot. Spent a little more and got a G Loomis rod. November 9, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by I would buy this product again and again I can feel the lightest nibble with this pole plus the strength is amazing. Great buy for the price. July 10, 2012
