Rated 5 out of 5 by Disco Bill only used it twice... I purchased this rod about a week ago. I used it on a 10 hour charter boat (ocean) trip for sea bass fluke and porgies. Caught about 30 fish, was only able to keep 10. Some were pretty good fighters and the rod never failed... Did not collapse in on itself and the segments did not twist around... End of the day, it closed perfectly fine without stuck segments. The 2 days before the trip, I did some casting around the house to get a feel for it and I tied up my archery field target approx 18lbs and was reeling it in over carpet and hard wood floors. (Dragging 18 pounds on dry land is a lot heavier than 18lbs in water). I did hear a little creaking from the rod when I did this but it did not fail or have any problems. Its already been worth the $19 I paid for it. August 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by dhut1980 perfect for the price Perfect for the price and the little bit of fishing I do. Keep it behind the seat of my truck and pull it out whenever I get a chance July 30, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Jack Opened container and while extending rod, top portion broke off. Thought that the Calypso would be good but disappointed. I had South Bend telescoping rods before and while they held up for about 4-6 months, they were almost good. This rod broke when extending to prepare the pole. Poor, Poor October 10, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by FOM Mixed Reviews I bought two of these rods at the same time. While mounting the reel to one I realized that one of the eyes was loose and it came totally apart while I was examining it. The other rod seems to be ok so I took the damaged one back to the store. I have the South Bend Rod and it has been flawless. I hope this rod holds up to the catfish test!!! June 5, 2013
