Gerber Freeman Guide Fixed Blade Gut Hook Knife 3.5 5 2 2
broke it I've used this knife on a few deer. I admit that I purchased this knife due to its low cost. It sharpened ok, and kept a decent edge, though I sharpened it after each animal. I tried to sharpen the gut hook with a Smith's rod, and I felt like I actually made it less sharp. Anyway, I shot a doe the other day, and as I was gutting it, I tried to use the back of the knife to pry against the pelvis to snap it open. The gut hook tip broke off. I know it wasn't the intended purpuse for the hook, but still. If I would have bent it, that would have been my fault, but it snapped off like a twig. I won't buy the same one to replace it.
