Rated 5 out of 5áby Tom Great Knife I love my Gerber freeman. It is incredibly sharp out of the box and has remained that way. November 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby Huntingnut Great knife I picked one of these up cause I decided I wanted a knife with a gut hook on it. Can't seem to find them in the 2 Dick's Sporting Goods near me. Probably cause it is well worth the money. I am actually getting ready to buy 2 more. Would hate to need another one and then not be able to get one. Just easier to buy a couple and put them away till needed. Hope Gerber keeps making this knife just the way it is, but someone needs to earn their pay and make the latest and greatest design. I gutted a deer and then skinned and quartered it with this knife and had no issues. Then I gutted a second one without sharpening it....again NO issues. Great knife November 18, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5áby bob broke it I've used this knife on a few deer. I admit that I purchased this knife due to its low cost. It sharpened ok, and kept a decent edge, though I sharpened it after each animal. I tried to sharpen the gut hook with a Smith's rod, and I felt like I actually made it less sharp. Anyway, I shot a doe the other day, and as I was gutting it, I tried to use the back of the knife to pry against the pelvis to snap it open. The gut hook tip broke off. I know it wasn't the intended purpuse for the hook, but still. If I would have bent it, that would have been my fault, but it snapped off like a twig. I won't buy the same one to replace it.
