Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Should have bought the Kershaw Leek Do not like the overall fit and finish. You can not tell by packaging. February 26, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by hard to open knife takes an edge well. packaging dose not show serrations on the blade something I was not looking for. more difficult to open than any folding knife[ if you have to open more than twice your thumb will be in pain]. blade locks very tight. hoping I can break it in so it will open smother without blade tip hanging out of the handle wile folded February 19, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by decent value This is my only Gerber knife, and we'll be my only for a while until Gerber starts making a better assisting system. I've owned three of these I returned the other two s while ago due to the stiffness of the knife opening system, but heard that there's a breaking in period. sure enough after about a week of manually opening and shutting it repeatedly for several minutes per day in my spare times, it opens quite smooth. I've carried this knife now for three weeks and use it quite often. this is not a top of the line knife but it'll get the minor everyday tasks done in all honesty I love everything about the knife but the cheap soft steel the blade is made from and the break in period. the grip and looks of the knife are great! the blade shape is very attractive and is a good slicer and piercer. lastly,I love the plunge lock, it makes for simple quick one hand closure. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excelent replacement for lost Gerber Tactical Not as fast as my Tactical, but may speed up with use. Sharpens as expected for any Gerber knife. Former member 1st SF Group December 18, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Quality knife.....but This knife is another fine example of Gerber's quality products. The F.A.S.T. opening system is very effective and I have little trouble operating it with one hand. The blade was razor sharp right out of the box and I am thoroughly impressed. I have noticed however that after several, repeated openings in a short period of time that my thumb became a bit sore. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend. August 20, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Hard to open Near impossible to open with one hand. The FAST draw system is preventing it to not be opened easily. And when do do open it with one hand it scrapes your thumb August 11, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Crapshooter I can't open the knife even with two hands. The blade is locked in because of the finishing coat on it and Gerber refuses to fix it. It is sharp right out of the box when you can manage to open it and the F.A.S.T technology is nice. But for this price and the quality you should spend an extra 10-15 dollars and get a S.O.G. Much better quality and very reliable. January 17, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not so F.A.S.T. This knife is definitely not what I was expecting. The design which provides the assisted opening also prevents the knife from being opened easily. This spring mechanism keeps pressure on the blade to hold the knife closed. You can push the blade out about 3/4" and it will snap itself closed. Once you push past the "break point" the knife springs open, but the location of the thumb stud doesn't allow for enough leverage to easily overcome the spring's closing tension. Basically, it's a very ineffective design. I thought it might just be a little stiff since it was brand new, but I've spent a lot of time opening and closing it just to try and loosen it up with no success. That being said, this knife works well if you don't actually want it to open quickly. It's very sharp and holds an edge well. It's built with typical Gerber quality and looks nice too. Overall it's a decent knife, but the only reason I bought it was for the F.A.S.T. system, and that doesn't work well. You can get a similar knife without the FAST and spend less money. Rated 5 out of 5 by I would buy this product again We bought this for emergency use on the River. Always good to have a good knife handy. October 19, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Another Gerber great! I loved the design and functionality of the original version of the fast draw. The only thing that kept me from buying one was the small size, and here they are with a man sized version! It had a bit of a breaking in period. The entire knife has a black powder coat, so you have the work the blade a bit to ware the paint off of the spring bar. I've had it and used it heavily for about a month now, and I am very pleased. Functional, handy, sturdy. September 5, 2012
