Comparison vs. Nike Zoom Vapor Elite BB Metals I'm sure if you're looking at this spike, you're also looking at the new Nikes this year (Zoom Vapor Elite Metals). Played baseball in high school in both Nikes and Adidases and have played softball for years with Nike football cleats (Vapor Carbon Fly TDs, most recently). I'm old (35), but I can still fly around a diamond. Wouldn't spend silly money on spikes if I couldn't! I already ordered the Zoom Vapor Elites as well as these Adizeros - and there's no question that these v. 2.0s fit better (the first time I've ever tried Adizeros, too). I have a little wider, flatter foot and prefer a little more spread in the toe box (not necessarily taller in the forefoot - I just don't want to feel like my toes are on top of each other). The Nikes both felt unusually small in the forefoot AND left a weird gap in the heel (nothing like the Vapor Carbon Fly TDs, which might be the best cleat ever, football or baseball). I've read some reviews about last year's Nike Vapor Talon Elite football cleats also having the same issue - too narrow and too much room in the heel while not enough room in the toebox. The Zoom Vapor baseball spikes seem to be designed identically. In fact, I've tried both types on and felt that exact thing. Of course, this could just be my own feet talking. What I'm saying is, the Nike metals felt tight in the toes and yet they were slipping off my heel when pushing off. I ordered two different sizes and the smaller size was just as slippery. With these Adizeros, my usual size was a perfectly snug heel fit. It catches and doesn't let my foot slide out of the shoe. Your fit might be different. But after walking around the house for a night, there's no question - everything you want in a top of the line metal seems to be in these shoes. Obviously, I can't speak to durability or other issues since I have yet to play in them. Hopefully whatever you decide on is the right choice. January 5, 2013
