Having worn the Beast for many years, I have never been disappointed in their performance. Although they are getting more expensive, they continue to deliver.
The shoes I purchased were on sale and well worth the marked down price.
If you browse the Dick's Sporting Goods website you can occasionally find great bargains, as these were marked down almost 40% with free shipping.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Kat Product is horrible
These shoes are the worse shoes I have ever bought. They hurt my feet so bad that it took a week to heal them after only 2 hours of wearing them. They were a waste of my hard earned money...Brooks Beast are very uncomfortable

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tman good shoe for people with flat feet
I bought this shoe for my 12yr old son who suffers foot pain because of flat feet. He has custom orthotics that he puts in his shoes. This shoe has depth enough to leave the original shoe pads in and put the orthotics on top. He's also found these shoes to be comfortable and supportive even without the orthotics inserts. I would also note that my son normally wares a size men's 10.5. We ended up in a men's 11.5. My son runs through his shoes quickly , I'm hopping to get a longer life from these.

After wearing and running in the 2011 Beast and previous models, this revised model did not feel the same. Toe box narrower and shoe less comfortable. I could not get comfortable in them. I opted to return them and purchase the old model for $45 less.

I have flat, wide feet. This is the first pair of shoes that I have worn and experienced a pain free day! They are a bit pricey, but worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Scooter51 A Great Running Shoe For Full Figure Guys!
After using the Asics MC, MC Plus and Evolution running shoes over the past two decades I was forced to make a change after the Asics Forte running shoe was introduced. Unfortunately the reviews for the Forte that I read were generally horrible (i.e. "Like running with cardboard on your feet." etc.). I'm sure there must be a number of positive reviews, but then I 've become tired of Asics penchant for always having to introduce a new shoe to replace shoes I was very happy with (i.e. MC, MC Plus, Evolution).
Tinker, Tinker, Tinker and finally people look for alternatives. As A 6', 230 lbs. self professed "fat guy" who runs 20 to 30 miles a week and ran the 2012 Marine Corps Marathon I found the Brooks Beast to be an outstanding alternative to Asics. Asics lost is Brooks gain as once I find a shoe that meets my requirements I stick with it. Thanks to Brooks for being there for us fat guys.
