I am not a runner. I am a 63 year-old female and have had mild to moderate arthritis in my knees and hip for several years and more recently in my ankles and toes. I haven't worn high heels in probably 30 years and choose my footwear for comfort rather than style. Even walking as little as 70-75 yards was difficult and standing on a hard surface for more than 10-15 minutes was painful. I am so thankful to the salesman at Dick's for suggesting I try these shoes on. I don't recall ever paying more than $100.00 for any pair of shoes in my life, but once I had these on my feet, I was amazed at the almost immediate improvement in the way my back, hip, knees and feet felt! It had never occurred to me that a running shoe would be of any help to someone who simply needed a comfortable pair of walking shoes. I only wish Brooks would incorporate this technology into a boot, a sandal, a medium-high heel, a loafer and a flat and then I would never need to even look at another brand of shoe! I have also noticed a real improvement in my energy level at the end of the day and I know it's because of these shoes. Thanks, Brooks! Thanks, Dick's! Also, thanks to Mikey, the very polite, helpful and knowledgable sales associate in the shoe department at Dick's!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nonny 5th pair and still A+!
I discovered Brooks Ariel sneakers years ago, and have been delighted with every pair. I'm 70, still very active, but tend to pronate one foot, and this shoe is made for me. Don't you dare change this shoe!

I have been wearing the Brooks Ariel for about 9 years. It is an excellent shoe for anyone who pronates. I go through 3-4 pairs a year as this shoe is all that I wear- for work, play, even church. I am flat footed and can walk without pain when I wear these shoes. Although designed for a runner, they work great for all around activity.

I am a nurse and I suffer with severe over pronation. The podiatrist that visits the nursing rehab ctr where I work overheard me telling my coworkers about all the shoes I've gone threw and how my feet are in agony. He immediately told me about this shoe after he looked at my feet. I ordered them right there- I'm am ecstatic!! I bought a second pair recently so I'd have a pair specifically for work and a pair for everyday!! If you suffer from severe over pronation buy these shoes. I'm buying another pair so I will have a spare in my closet!!! Thank you Dick's Sporting Goods for having these wonderful lifesavers!!!

I expected light blue. But I got light green. The picture on this page shows shoes being a light blue color. The picture on Dicks's Web site shows a light blue color. But the shoes I received are definitely a light green color. I'm not happy.

The shoe is a little pricey, but seems to be an excellent product. If it holds up like I think it will, I'll be buying another pair.

Finally I have found a shoe I can walk my 3 miles per day in that I do not have discomfort in after my walk. I love these shoes. My podiatrist recommended Brooks shoes, and I am not at all disappointed. The only thing I am sorry about is that they do not carry wide in Dick's stores so I have to purchase on line.

Dick's only offers this shoe online with the benefits of returning it directly to your local store. I normally wear a size 9W but had to order up to a 9 1/2W. Return was easy and with the price of this shoe, the shipping is free. (A little on the expensive side but that is Brooks, not Dick's)
I had surgery on both of my feet last year and have had to look for a shoe deep enough to allow for inserts. This shoe fits the bill. However, because these shoes felt so good on my feet, knees and legs - I tried to wear them a day without my custom inserts. It felt great! No special inserts for me now with this wonderful shoe. Of course, I spoke to my foot doctor before I did this.
I am ordering a second pair today.

I have worn Ariels for years. They are the only shoe design that I can walk in for miles right out of the box. I've read some complaints about newer editions of the Ariel shoe, but I have never had a problem with them. They are absolutely worth the money. If my ankles and knees start to hurt again, I know it is time for a new pair, but I get at least a half year out of a pair. I'm trying to stave off joint surgery, and these shoes make it possible.

I have plantar facitis and low arches. This is my second pair of Brooks "Ariel" and I would highly recommend this shoe. I am not a runner but a walker. I usually wear an 8 wide but I need an 8.5 wide in Brooks athletic shoes. They fit perfect right out of the box. I had no break in time. They are well padded and comfortable, yet light weight. I am disappointed in one thing, the "Ariel" is difficult to find. I believe that is because it has been replaced with another "Ariel" model. I just hope this one meets the same standards as the old one, because it is the best shoe on the market for my particular issues.
