I picked up the combo for the same price. i love it i put 6lb cajun line i have caught a couple bass on it (screaming drag!), some trout an have even caught a grass carp on it its a great reel id reccomend picking up the combo though as you get rod and reel for the same price if you dont like the rod it comes with just put it in storage for possible later use people down the rod it comes with but i have had great success with it.

The small dust cap is very difficult to remove, and since there is some assembly required, buyer beware: if you want to change the position of the handle, it takes some finesse.Otherwise a good spinning reel for beginners or intermediate level who aren't proficient with baitcasters and are after pan size fish.The basic line is not very strong, so an 8lb or braided line will help you land good sized fish.Good luck!
