Third pair of Alvords. I like the tread pattern and stability for hiking Camelback mtn. Not my favorite lacing system Good lightweight materials.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dremp great looking shoes, excellent quality
Bought shoes because of the quality from other NIKE I own. These are very light and soul is sturdier then the regular Air. Many colors to choose from we chose silver and black. Would buy them again.

I have been buying this same shoe for my son (almost 12 years now) for the past 3 years!! That should tell you something about the shoe. He loves them especially because they "expand" as he says and they hold very well. They are his everyday, school/basketball shoes so they take a lot of abuse every day. I hope the company continues production.

I bought these and a pair of Asics. You can feel a big difference in support. The Nikes were horrible. I'll never buy Nike again...too many poor experiences.

The associates working during the time of my order were extremely helpful. They were cheerful and caring. I also love my shoe. I wear it almost everyday and it is holding up and works like new!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Norm Nike Changes the sizing and the shoes no longer fit-SHAME on NIKE
I bought 2 pair of Nike Alvord 10.shoes in size 10-the size that had always fit me comfortably and generously (I'm normally a 9). The purchase was made on line through Dicks.com. The shoes came very quickly but did not fit me. They were tight EVEN WITHOUT LACING THEM UP, even though they are the correct size. I went to my local Dicks store in Escondido CA where a very attentive and qualified sales person helped me to select 2 other pair of Alvord 10's in size 10.5, a half size bigger. They were snug, but I thought I might "break them in" so that they'd fit. NO SUCH LUCK-I cannot wear them, either. I still had an older pair (1 year ago) of NIKE Alvord 10 shoes and compared the soles, one over the other. Without any surprise, there is a 3/8 inch overlap of the older one's sole to the newer one. In other words, NIKE changed the last. Very disappointing because I would have been happy to keep buying at least 2 pair every 6 months for as long as they were made. Now, I have to find another shoe (and/or brand) that fits comfortably.

I was initially excited to find these on line at Dicks because the pair I have been wearing for the past 3 months are THE most comfortable sneakers I ever bought (in my 66 years). Sadly, I'll be returning the pair I just bought from Dicks because the Nike people seem to have changed the construction and made the shoe smaller with a smaller toe box and an inconsistent last (left one lumpy and upturned at the toes). Pity, I would have just kept buying them as long as they were produced, but not after seeing what the company did in re-sizing and (presumably) thereby saving a few cents each on them.

A great comfortable fit. Provides adequate support for long periods of standing. Grip is useful for indoor and outdoor activities.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Sore Toes Took something good and made it worse...
I had the Alvord 8 and loved them straight out of the box, backpacked over 100 miles on them & felt like I was walking on clouds. The Alvord 9 had the same upper but with the new tread which made it even better. I decided I liked the way the Alvord 10 looked all black and went with them, but little did I know...
So after 2 day hikes to break them in, approximately 14 miles combined I noticed a major flaw in the new design. The piping that separates the tongue from the toe area is new to the Alvord model. The issue is that the piping is raised as much inside of the shoe as it is outside putting constant strain and pressure across the top of the foot where the big toe is located. So painful that within a few miles I adjusted them multiple times in attempt to alleviate the pain. After 14 miles the pain seemed worse and I realized I was done attempting to break in an uncomfortable shoe and returned them.
Without the piping causing pain, these would be an amazing trail runner, hiking or backpacking shoe. Instead, they are retired until they can fix their issue.
