Rated 3.4 out of 5áby 20 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5áby reel cheap Yes yes the rod is nice, but that is half the purchase, wife and I received our combos for a Christmas gift, After the first day on the water wife was impressed, I didn't use mine, used my favarite that day. The next trip out was all we needed to know, her reel was frozen solid. I worked it over real good with lube and spray and finally broke it free, she was able to use the rest of the day. Next trip out the same thing, I didn't bother with it and had her go back to her Penn set. Reels are garbage, so I am only 50% ok with Capt. Wiggins endorsed combo, it makes me be very leery of any of his other products he has endorsed..... June 17, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5áby Endorsement Another cheap product endorsed by celebrity. Even though I bought mine as BOGO i am still not happy with the quality. for about $100 you can get a much better quality and performance Shimano, Abu or Penn combo. Do not allow yourself to be fooled by the Addictive fishing endorsements. The rod does not have the necessary fast action nor the backbone for any type of inshore fishing. The reel feels like a cheap toy reel. The handle can not handle much force and it lacks the smoothness you expect from a $100 combo. June 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5áby All that complained about the FINS braid that came with the reel. First of all, it is rare that a reel is fully outfitted with braid only. If it is, it should have tape wrapped around the center of the spool to keep the braid from slipping on the spool itself. Secondly, when using braid it is customary to place a backing of mono on the spool before loading the braid. Lastly, there is a high probability that the FINS braid was spooled improperly, which will result in the braid twisting and thus wind knots. So, the message here is that DICKS was not being cheap in backing the spool with mono and the braid was loaded improperly. May 27, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5áby Change Line at Purchase Got this on Holliday special so can't complain to much. Great rod, cast pretty far and quite sensitive. The real however comes spooled with cheap braid with mono backing that's not even tied on. You will spend more time dealing with wind knots and after you cut a few yards you are left with nothing more than a cheap braid leader. Do yourself a Huge favor and change the line before you use this combo. January 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby w&m combo. I own several flats blue rods and decided to try the mogan combo. Everything is holding up great. Meets my expectations for the price. Down fall is the FINS braid that comes spooled on the reel. Never had so many wind knots in my life. I fish with power pro so im not new to braid. Another problem is the braid is not connected to the monofilament underneath. Its separated by plastic. I found this out when i hooked a descent striper that took all the FINS off the reel and never stopped. Other then the Trash FINS braid, i recommend this Combo. January 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME THE THINGS PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT. THIS IS A GREAT ROD PERIOD...YEA THE REEL IS A LITTLE CHEAP BUT SO WHAT...FOR THE PRICE WHAT DO YOU WANT...THE REEL WILL WORK FINE IF YOU KEEP IT CLEAN AND SALT FREE...I HAVE CHARTER FISHED AND COMMERCIAL FISHED FOR THE MAJORITY OF MY LIFE, AND AM AN AVID BAY FISHERMAN HERE IN THE PANHANDLE SO I FEEL I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. AS FOR THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE MONO....FIRST OF ALL YOU NEVER EVER SPOOL YOUR SPINNER WITH ONLY BRAIDED LINE. YOU NEED MONO BACKING....YOUR NOT GONNA CAST 300 YARDS . I DONT CARE HOW GOOD YOU THINK YOU ARE. THIS IS A GREAT DEAL SO DONT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS, IF YOUR FISHING SALT WATER YOUR GONNA GO THROUGH REELS ANYWAY. BUT THE ROD IS WHAT GONNA LAST AND THIS ONE IS LITE AND STONG...ENJOY December 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5áby Super Nice Rod!!! I can't give an honest review on the reel, because I saw it in the store and read several reviews that brought me to the conclusion that the reel was cheep and no good for someone who fishes almost every day. However, the rod, on the other hand, seemed really good and received good reviews. Therefore, when I saw it on sale for $50, I had to grab it!!! I have already caught several fish on this rod and it is NICE!!! Great sensitivity, light weight, smooth guides and it looks better than the higher end rods by Wright and McGill, in my opinion. The best thing for me is that it's a two piece, therefore easier to deal with in my car. I don't use a boat, so I only fish from the shore. I love this rod!!! I've put the reel on an ice rod for sheepshead fishing, but have not had a chance to test it. December 20, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5áby Awesome rod, terrible reel, worse reel warranty I got this combo as a present and immediately loved it, as I found the cost cutting mono hidden under the main line I was a little disappointed, when the reel broke after only 9 months casual use I was really disappointed, and now after reading the warranty from Wright and McGill I am so disappointed I took time to write this and promise never to trust Dicks again. The rod is awesome, to bad they so cheaped out on the reel. December 1, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5áby great rod...reel is soso The rod is amazing. Super light and great response... definitely recommend changing out the reel September 23, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5áby Eagle Claw combo The rod is very responsive and makes those LONG casts needed on very shallow flats. However the reel's drag freezes up at times and stutters all the time. Have lost a big redfish already because of this. I thought the combo was reasonably priced but since the reel is worthless, the rod of of this quality becomes way over priced. It is interesting to note that your blurb describing this combo on this page touts the virtues of the rod but is totally silent regarding the reel! July 29, 2014
