Rated 4 out of 5 by byrank2002 good bat, not so good price Like the bat. Weight distribution is good for youth. My 10 yr old loves it. Paid $35. Found out another kid purchased it at another retailer for $25. July 30, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Coach Grandpa IT BROKE QUICKLY!!! My 11 year old Grandson wanted to try a wooden bat and he loved the look and feel of this Rawlings VELO Ash Wood Youth Bat. I guess the "feel" was a bit too light because the bat shattered before he had 10 swings with it. He had even used his own money (an award from 5th grade graduation) to buy it. Oh well...... Rated 2 out of 5 by twigs bat has changed This was a great bat for my 6th grader to start playing middle school ball as it is a BBCOR or wood bat only league. The first one we purchased had a nice sweet spot and served him well for several games. Of course it broke because you can't have a -7.5 bat that is going to be super strong. Breaking these is just the price you pay for having a lightweight bat. As we replaced the bat, however, the new one came and was designed differently. The sweet spot was drastically reduced and the bat was much thinner. Maybe this was to increase its strength? Anyway, we returned it as it looked more like a toothpick than a bat. We bit the bullet and went with a 30" BBCOR aluminum and just swung harder. May 13, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dopey Great Bat This is an excellent bat. I'm not sure what the other reviewer was saying when he said the bat was 28" and weighed 16oz. He obviously doesn't understand how it works. 28" with a drop -7.5 means at 28" the bat is going to weigh 21.5oz. The higher the drop the less the bat weighs in relationship to the length. As another example if you were buying a 32" bat with a -5 drop the weight of the bat would be 27oz. My 7 year old son has used this bat for 4 seasons of baseball. The park he plays in requires wood bats for 7 and 8 year olds. This bat is one of the most widely used bats because they are not allowed to use any bats with a drop greater than 7.5 and they are quality bats. If you want go buy a Louisville Slugger wood bay and see how long they last. My son excitedly cracked 4 of those. November 30, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Rich64 Not so good! Bought this bat for my 10.5 year old son because he needed a wood bat for his level in baseball league. This bat was nice and light, however, during the first scrimmage and first at bat, he shattered the bat in half! The size was 29 inches and it weighed about 16 ounces. Would not recommend this bat!
