Rated 4 out of 5 by Honest opinion - no hype Got this rod and reel combo (with the Wright & McGill Sabalos 3500 reel) on sale direct from Addictive Fishng's Blair Wiggins at Dick's grand opening. With the combo sale price, this is a good deal, although the rod is built in China. The rod is actually a bit heavier than you would think, and matched up with the 3500 reel (suggested by them), the weight balance point is a bit forward, toward the tip. Instead of holding the pole with the reel base between my fingers, I had to shift the reel behind my pinky finger to get the weight to feel right, but that wasn't hard to get used to. The action, once a fish is hooked, is where this pole shines. I hooked up on some nice speclked trout (3-5lbs) my first weekend after buying this, and I was suprised how much backbone this rod has. The tip has decent flex for any 'head shakes', but the mid point, down to handle, stiffens quickly so you can work a fish with better weight. Honestly, I think this rod can handle and is better suited for fish bigger than the specks and slot reds the guys said it's good for. I will use this more for larger fish like bull reds, king mackerel, bonita, even free lining for snapper. I would recommend braid, allowing you to get greater lb test for the limited spool space. I also think the 4000 would be a better reel suggestion than the 3500. This would help in line capacity and balance. July 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Addicted to Flats Blue Excellent Value! Excellent Action! This rod is a Bait Slinger. First Cast Dish-On. Coupled a 7'-6" with 4000 Sabalos Reel just like my Hero the Mogan Man, spooled with 20 lb. braid and started slinging 3/8 oz. Aqua Dream spoons the length of a football field. Getting that bait or lure as far away from both you and or the boat or Kayak is important when stalking spooked game fish of any kind. Go Get You One. March 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Rod I use the 7'9" (original) & 7'2" (new model) rods for almost all of my inshore fishing...The tips are sensitive enough to toss light jigs & live bait on the flats for trout & reds, but the rod has enough backbone to pull big snook out from the docks & bigger snook from under the bridges...I have owned 3 of these rods & have 0 complaints. Rated 5 out of 5 by It's been a good run After 3 years of having my 7'6", my friend broke the tip off putting in the rod locker. This rod had been through it all and back and still work faithfully, even through a 40 lb. tarpon. I would recommend this rod greatly and I am excited to get a new 7'6" for free! March 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect inshore Rod I am 44 yrs old and have favored the Ugly Stick since I was 14 yrs old because they just don't break and have great action. This New W&M Flats Blue rod is now my favorite rod. It is so light and perfectly balanced. What I really like about it is that it is more rigid on the bottom 2/3rds of the rod and flexible in the top 1/3rd. Giving it enough power to pull in heavier fish and sensitive enough to feel the fish strike. The 7.2" is nice because I can accurately cast around floating grass edges and around structures. Rated 5 out of 5 by W&M 7'6" Have only used it one time since receiving it and was impressed enough to order 2 more. My son also used it and fell in love with it. Light tip action seems to make it very sensitive. Used with a composite reel, 2500 series, I think I could cast all day because it is so light. June 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Rod I love this rod as it is light to handle. It Cast so far. March 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great rod Have only used the rod once since bought, but seems to be a great rod, and for a good price. Read mixed reviews on the rod and wanted to try it out myself. The 7'-6" was a little longer than I was wanting (wanted the 7'-2" but didn't have online at the time) but I think it will do me well. I went ahead and bought (4) of the 7'-2" rods from that auction website the same day that I ordered this rod. First Wright & McGill product I've owned, but figured my idol uses them, so I might as well use them also. Tight Lines April 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Flats blue 7'6 I've had the 7'6 for a while now and all I have to say is it's AMAZING! It's hands down the best rod you'll ever buy for the money. Yesterday I met Blair wiggins at a local dicks sporting goods that had its grand opening and he had me hold the rod and he bent it all the way to the floor without snapping ! November 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by love this rod I love this rod I have the 7'2 paired with a 3000 Penn pursuit 2 with 20 pound power pro. The rod is so sensitive I have had it for 2 days and took a few cast with September 16, 2014
