Rated 5 out of 5 by Old town vs field and stream kayak You can't go wrong with this kayak! It has all the bells and whistles. My neighbor owns the field and stream eagle run and I have been using it for a long time but I wanted to try the old town so I purchased it and it is totally worth the money! You can't go wrong with a old town. June 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great kayak !!!!!!!! This kayak works perfectly for lake fishing. It's lightweight so I can haul it from my truck to the water easily. It paddles easily. I have the drywell full with everything I might need out on the water. The paddle holder and rod holders are great. It's comfortable. Just an overall great boat. June 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Boat I bought two of these because I'm a big guy 6-4 260 and the reviews sold me. My wife and I just got back from our first outing on the river and it was awesome. I was a little concerned at first but 5 minutes in they were gone. We went up stream 3 miles, then floated back past our landing and went back up again to get out, these boats were stable and reasonably fast for not being a $1200 boat. I'm really glad I didn't spend $2000 on two boats when the $900 I spent on this pair was all we needed. the seat is easily adjustable and very comfortable compared to some others I've been in. I thought about another review where they said they would get a stadium cushion, I thought about that and will dry it when I go on an all day trip. June 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well suited for a big man with long legs My hubbs and I received two fishing kayaks as gifts for xmas and were excited to finally get them out on the water after a very long and harsh winter. He is a tall man at 6'5" and was not able to extend his legs in the 12ft Excursion, his knees felt like they were at his chin! The opening was too big for me at much closer to 5' tall. We loaded them up and took them back to our local Dick's store and the manager was very helpful in finding him the perfect fishing kayak that fit him well and kindly exchanged them. The Old Town Angler has a nice large opening for his legs and a very comfortable seat with great back support for long days on the water. Molded from solid, quality material and has a large, locking dry well at the rear. It maneuvers easily and he is very pleased with it! Thanks to Dick's for the knowledgeable manager who helped him choose this great kayak. We are looking forward to years of adventures in our awesome new water rides! May 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by BEST BEST BEST BEST Okay I've bought this kayak I would say the beginning of last year of 2013 and I love it. I used it in lakes, big rivers etc. and it comfortable. There's only one thing that I've noticed but isn't so bad. When paddling fast or slow, I noticed it would pull a little to the right but again that's not a big deal with me. All my life I wanted to buy a boat but with this you can go in small streams and hard to go places that you can't do with a boat. I've picked the camouflage color which I don't see them having anymore on the site but with this kayak any color would do. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS............. YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT. Having 2nd thoughts?, Youtube it and you will see how much fun it is. April 21, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Stable, Thk Hull, Nice Angle Kayak I bought this kayak as my first dip into the kayak world. I paid about $500 for it at Dicks Sporting Goods at the time. The rear compartment does a good job of keeping water out which is nice when you need to have a change of dry clothes or whatever you need to keep dry. I keep my wallet in a waterproof container just to be extra safe. I bought another kayak that was about $200 less that doesn't have the rear pole holders, the front tray for holding your lures, or a compartment that keeps water out and has a thinner hull for my daughter. I like them both. The cheaper one cuts through the water a little faster when paddling, but sits slightly lower to the water line than the Old Town. So if you're in riffled water a lot, you might want the Old Town Trip 10 Angler and even purchase a skirt if you get in a little more serious water. If you're in open water or lakes, the kayak will do the job, but you're going to work at it paddling harder than you would with a longer Kayak. And it becomes unreasonable if there's windy chop. The smaller length makes it ideal for turning on small rivers. It's stable in the riffles or chop, but I wouldn't do any serious rapids in it, certainly not without a full spray skirt. April 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice boat for the money I sold my wilderness systems tsunami 120 and bought this boat. It has a ton of leg room and serves its purpose for fishing and is built really well. It's seat is comfortable because of the adjustable back. Only been out 3 times on it but so far I like the way it tracks on a lake.It is well worth the money. March 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Yak for your money I'm 65 years old and was looking for a kayak I could handle by myself. This fit the bill perfectly. It's light enough to carry and very easy to get in and out of. I have had surgery on both shoulders and one knee replaced and still have no problem with handling it. I can fish out of it for 10 to 12 hours a day and be comfortable in the stock seat that it has. I did buy a pair of seal skin socks which are waterproof so I can stand in the water for easier entering and exiting the yak. It tracks well and is roomy enough for a tackle box right in front of you for easy access. I would highly recommend this yak for anyone. February 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My Go To Day Fishing River Kayak. I have two Old Town Trip 10 kayaks, Pungo 120, Plamilco 120, Perception Conduit 13, Perception Rhythm 11, Emotion Fisherman 14, Pelican Castaway 116 DLX, Field and Stream River Run 12, Old Town Vapor 10, Plamilco 120, The Trip is my go to kayak for day fishing on this old river. It is easy to get into and out. It is very stable, tracks good with enough speed for the river. It handles good around the fallen trees and goes over shallow places with ease. I can even go up river with high water conditions with ease. Some of the other kayaks I have can do the same but not for the price of the Trip. It is a great kayak for the price. February 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fished it very hard for 3 years now. This is a very versatile platform for small lakes, ponds, rivers etc. I wouldn't recommend it for larger bodies of water, but it's not designed for that. Very stable roomy and comfortable. It's very easy to maneuver and you can get it very shallow and through a lot of muck. I've been in kayaks that track better, but for it's size and design I have no problems with it. If you don't have a truck or can't afford better options, I highly recommend this as an alternative. You can carry it on your shoulder and strap it on top of a Corolla with a couple pool noodles and some tie-downs. You can take this thing anywhere with minimal effort. The trolley system only extends about half the length of the hull from the stern to the cockpit. I modified it to go all the way to the bow and installed a through-hull transducer for my finder. It's pretty sweet. The seat is comfortable, I fish it in it sometimes for up to 12 hours. It starts to get uncomfortable after that long, but so would any seat. you can easily bring everything you need for a day on the water, plus some extra. After 3 years of fishing in it a few times a week, nothing has broken and it performs admirably. I can't imagine a more versatile, easy way to get on the water for the price. November 29, 2013
