Quantum Octane Baitcast Combos 4 5 68 68
Best in its price range. First off, like others have said, it's more of a medium rod than medium heavy. I knew this in advance though as my friend has the right hand retrieve version. Now, as for anyone who can't figure out how to dial this reel in, maybe you shouldn't be using baitcasters. I have higher end reels including one made by quantum. This reel was no harder to set up then my pricier reels. I use it strictly for worm rigs. Work perfect for Texas, Carolina or wacky rigs. Sensitive rod let's you feel the slightest action under water. I use a lighter test (12lbs) and have had no problems with backlash. That being said, line quality does matter, but that's with any reel. November 3, 2014
Nice combo This rod/reel combo works well together once you get it dialed in October 10, 2014
Quantum open faced combo Nice reel but a piece on the reel is cracked and ill have to take it to get back for the second time, this will be my third pole. Staff is really friendly and have no problem with the return. Other than the reel the rod is great. September 30, 2014
amazeing I want to start using bait casters so I got this. The next day I went fishing and caught a 6.5 pound bass, the rode and reel worked amazing. September 26, 2014
broke after 2 days As other reviews mentioned the rod was nice but the real is most certainly of cheaper quality. After two days of fishing my tension knob broke off and you all know what happens from there. If you find a good one that doesn't break than I'm sure you will be happy but unfortunately mine was of poor quality and plastic at that......QUANTUM what's up with that. September 15, 2014
overall decent combo there are lots of bad reviews for this combo I love mine it works like a charm . August 30, 2014
This product have good features Im catch a 8 puonds bass wit this fishing P working so good August 28, 2014
Not terrible The rod in my opinion is a great rod. Maybe more of a medium instead of a medium heavy. But all in all great rod! The reel on the other hand isn't so great. If you have no clue about baitcasting reel then I do not recommend this. The settings are very touchy. The brakes aren't very strong. If you're looking for a cheap setup I would go with an Abu Garcia low end product August 8, 2014
great reel for a starter Reel is made of cheap plastic rod is too sensitive to be a medium heavy more like a medium action at most. I like the micro guides casts pretty accurate July 27, 2014
The more I use it... I received this as a birthday gift. My first impression: Cheap! Compared to my Abu Garcia setups, the worksmanship falls short. I was a little disappointed and surprised too, since Quantum is a well respected name. So off I go, to the lake. First cast, blacklashed. The settings are very sensitive but, once I got it dialed, it was smooth. It's a lot lighter than my other setup and I found that the more I used it, the more I was starting to "love" it. This thing casts pretty far and the combo is so light, you barely notice it there in your hands. I love the color scheme too. All white is pretty appealing. To my eyes anyway. So here's the bottom line: Would I recommend it? Yes, I would. For the price it's not bad, but, for a littl more, you can get something nicer July 16, 2014
