Been looking for a rod and reel combo to cast ultra light lures. When I saw it was rated to cast 1/64oz lures and for $39 bucks figured I couldn't go wrong. For the most part that is true. I first spooled with 4lb Berkley XL cast like a rocket but ended up with so many twist after an hour or so of casting it looked like the line just blew up! Spooled twice more with the same, same result. Line also has a habit of collecting outside the spool on the drag knob if your not careful to make sure the line is in the roller after each cast. Why did I give it 4 stars? Once I put on 8lb Berkley Fireline Crystal and a Florocarbon leader line twist is no longer an issue at all. Still need to watch to make sure line is in the roller and close the bail by hand. Biggest fish so far on the combo 1.5lb smallie and the rod is still intact, make sure your drag is not to tight.

the shallow spool holding the line made it easy for tangles and after a couple hours fishing with many tangles I could only cast a few yards. not good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Griperr Fantastic value for a fun ultralight combo!
Love this little combo! Extremely sensitive rod and super smooth reel. I put two pound test on mine and use tiny little plugs and jigs for whatever decides to pounce on them! When they do, the fun begins! The main reason I decided to make this purchase (considering I already have other comparable outfits) was the fact that the rod has that little extended butt feature. Most ultra light rods stop just a few inches past the reel seat (which is fine) the extended butt feature makes this five and a half foot super sensitive rod act and perform like a seven footer... I love it and would definitely recommend its purchase.

i purchased one of these rigs and used it for fishing. after the second day of use the rod snapped under 5-6 lb weight. the following day the reel lost a screw during use, rendering it inoperable. i paid 40 bucks for three days of use. not a good deal.

I have enjoyed going fishing and using this rod/reel. After using my grandfather's old pole this is really nice!! I can cast really well and it reels in very smoothly!!!

I just took back the 4th and last combo today. When working it is a great set up... But the combo has been in constant failure. From the bail breaking to the rod snapping and screws coming out during casting... Would not recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Matt Brookman Great ultra light rod!
Great Ultra light rod I picked up at Dick's Sporting goods in Woodbury, MN specifically for casting ultra light crank baits and jigs for crappies. So far it's stacked up to what I wanted to get out of it. Extremely light and light action set up which has made for some fun days on the water even catching the accidental 26" pike it has held up. New reel needs to be freshly lubricated before use to improve performance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by windflag Spinning rod is great, the reel is garbage.
On my first fishing trip with the new combo the reel completely fell apart, literally.
The screw holding the bale on came off and I had to search the bottom of the canoe
for the screw, metal washers and a clear plastic washer. Have you ever tried to locate
a clear, tiny plastic washer on the bottom of a canoe???
Luckily I found them all, I think.
