Rated 5 out of 5 by Strong and Dependable With winter beginning this should be a must have if you slide off the roads. A great camping or hiking companion. Bright color choice makes it a standout in your emergency kit. November 6, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nailed it!! My girlfriend absolutely loved it!!! So fun to start a fire this way!!! After watching Naked and Afriad we had to try one!!! June 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works Great Nice little fire starter set. I own 2 sets and it will throw a good amount of sparks to get the tinder lit. I think most of the time people will complain about a sparker not working very well due to using the wrong tinder. Im a big fan of Birch bark. I can usually find it in my local woods and when processed down small it will take a spark very easily. Ive made many fires using this exact fire starter and do recommend it as a must have item for anyone spending time outdoors. February 24, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ok product Great spark. Looks to wear quickly. However does provide a great spark. Should have no problem starting fire with a good tinder bundle. February 8, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by good value Works best when you brace it against something and scrape down hard. I had trouble getting a good spark till i did that and then it worked like a charm January 27, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome product Haven't used it outdoors yet, but as soon as I got it, I took it out of the packaging and struck it to test it out. There were an abundance of sparks so I can saftly assume it will do the same outdoors. January 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simple works good It works like its supposed to you have to do 4 or 5 scrapes before you can get spark. October 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Purchase! Actually was with my son and of all the types that were displayed this particular model seemed to have really good features. Slightly more in price but worth it because of ease of strike, compact design, and quick delivery! We took a chance in purchasing the last one but proved a really good choice. August 14, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Pay a little more for a better tool Maybe I got a bad one but worked very poorly. The sparking coating wore off immediately. It never worked right. I tossed it out and gave up. July 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Works great! I try to pick one of these up every time I go to Dick's. I keep one in every pack, as well as in my truck. They take up almost no space, work consistently, and the whistle feature is a nice bonus. I would avoid green if at all possible. Especially if you are in an extremely grassy environment. The blaze orange is much easier to pick up on if you happen to drop it. They are a bit pricier than other ferrocerium rods, but I have consistently burned more questionable tinder with these than other brands. They DO burn hotter. Would give 5 out of 5 if not for the higher price point. May 13, 2014
