Rated 5 out of 5 by JBanker Excellent walking stability
I have tried many competitors' shoes, and I find the Trance 12 among the most supportive. I suffer from significant knee issues, and after purchasing a similar Nike shoe which irritated my knees significantly, Dick's graciously allowed me to switch to the Trance 12. I have no idea exactly what it is about this shoe that makes it so stable, but my research was confirmed by my experience with this shoe. Chronic knee pain from osteo-arthritis is not pleasant, so please consider this shoe if you're suffering pain when walking or running while wearing others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by b Great Kicks-Brooks Men's Trance 12 Running Shoe
The Brooks Men's Trance 12 Running Shoe has enabled me to start running again after experiencing chronic pain from another pair of running shoes. I was loyal customer for 10 years of the other shoe company and a particular model of their shoe. They suddenly drastically changed the support structure of their new model and it created real problems for me. I changed brands to the Brooks Trance 12 and could run without pain again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lobby Wonderful Shoe!!!
I have worn New Balance pretty much my whole life. I have never be really a runner, but when I decided to get in shape I found I needed some new shoes. After trying these Trances on, I was hooked. They are expensive, but totally worth it! I had never spend more than $55 on a shoe, ever. So to spend so much for these I was hesitant, until I ran my first 5k with them 2 weeks ago and I had no shin splits or sore feet. I trained with these shoes for 4 weeks before my race and was able to improve my mile time by 5 minutes, in part because I didn't have the same aches and pains from other shoes when running. Try them on, and you will see! *Note: I also compared these to the higher ended NIke's, Asics, Reebok, and New Balance. In a heartbeat these were better.
