Rated 4 out of 5 by tbarr Very good, trail ready shoe
I was impressed in store with the features of the shoe and have found more things to like since running in them for about 50 miles. I like the relatively flat outsole as it will tend to not pick up and carry mud as other shoes do that have voids in the heal, mid foot and arch. These shoes don't get too heavy when wet and the lacing system is noticeably nicer than others. When I tug on the laces the shoe tightens up evenly from tongue to toe and the laces has kind of a bit to it so it holds the tightness while I finish tying. .

Got them in the mail and tried them on noticed they ran larger than the other 4 pairs I've had. Sinched them up and broke a lace gromett. I've hicked and ran 100s of miles in older version but not in this. series. Trying out something new I will try again with a different version.

I purchased these shoes at the same time as a pair of Ghost 5s with the intent of having both a road and trail shoe for the first time. Since purchasing the Cascadia 8 I have used the shoes for trail running, hiking, road runs and the occasional game of social softball. In all I have been greatly impressed by the shoe; primary its comfortable fit, cushioning and grip in most situation. The shoe has dealt with heavy rain, mud and sand, all with ease and with no real loss of traction (other than in the mud once the soles were filled). When traveling I now only take these shoes as my running shoes as they give me a few more options over the ghosts.
I've done over 150 miles in them and will definitely be buying another pair once these ones are done.

My Brooks feel more comfortable than all my other running shoes put together. Couldn't ask for a more comfortable shoe.
