Rated 1 out of 5 by Sam Not good The curl bar was flimsy and the dumbell handles were way too long. No problem, though, Dick's took them right back and I got better stuff. It was more expensive, but worth it. July 2, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Mighty_Waffle It's just OK, not great, not bad, not good The shipping took way too long past what was "expected date of arrival" The packaging was nice and the box it came in was in perfect condition. The actual bars are just mediocre. They will leave a stain on your hands, I'd recommend cleaning them before using. The grip on them is next to soft and I feel it could slip on harder curls; they are not rigid enough for hardcore use. The two smaller hand-bars are pretty wide and odd to use when curling side by side The price for these were not worth it imo. I probably would have been better off just finding a curling bar and getting individual dumbbells. Buyers remorse inevitable. I gave a fair 2-star rating because the curling bar itself is not bad but I would not recommend these honestly, look elsewhere. May 31, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Clay Better than they first seem I've had this set for about 9 years. It seemed kind of flimsy when I first got it, but that's where my budget was at the time. I figured I would upgrade at some point when finances allowed, but was pretty happy just to have the equipment back then. I have used the curl bar regularly during that time loaded with anywhere between 50 and 100 lbs. and it still shows no signs of structural wear. Same for the dumbbell handles. This set has held up so well that I have yet to replace it with "better" bars. There are some cons to it, though. They do rattle a bit due to the plate load pins being hollow. It's not a big issue with the curl bar, but I have found it to be more pronounced with the dumbbells since arms are being used independently and consequently in a less stable situation to begin with. At the turning point between the eccentric and concentric motion of an exercise, the weight shifts ever so slightly. When going heavy, that is more pronounced and can be a little destabilizing. Not a comforting feeling when pressing 50 lb. dumbbells overhead...Therefore, I only use these for exercises where my arms stay in a relatively fixed or low position #lunges, calf raises, shrugs, bent rows, etc.#. With that said, I did use them for curls and overhead work for several years because it was all that I had. During that time I never felt like I was in any danger because of the weight rattling, just distracted by it more than anything. In fact some might say that a little destabilization is not a bad thing when training as long as it doesn't sacrifice safety and proper form. I agree with another reviewer who said the collars are not great. Definitely use other collars when loading these heavy. I recommend stronger spring collars or lock-jaw type collars rather than setscrew, as the setscrew could actually dent the plate load pins. If one were to do that enough times, I could see it eventually resulting in structural damage to the load pin. December 12, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cast Iron Head Good Purchase Overall, very happy with purchase. I will definitely need to upgrade on the clips otherwise the weight will slide off if you use more than 30lbs on the dumbbells. August 4, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by FoolishGenius It's ok for starters. I've had this combo for about a month now. All I can say is it gets the job done. It's made cheeply, the bar raddles, but it does what I need. It's severely lightweight. I'm more of a heavy lifter so I like my bars to already have good weight to them. Time will tell of how long this bar will last. I'm hoping to get a better bar soon.
