Rated 5 out of 5 by Not the best of the best but... I researched several hoops and couldn't justify spending $1200+ since I was just looking for something to shoot around with the kids. I didn't want anything too cheesy either. So I went with the 60" Goaliath w/Yard Guard. This unit is everything you would expect. The hardest part of the install is digging the 16" x 16" 36" deep hole (95% clay ground). DO NOT skimp on this part if you want your hoop to be sturdy and last for many years. Other thoughts: *Need 3 capable adults to install the backboard. I used my pickup truck bed and found this was better than any ladder, it was a breeze. * The Yard Guard is a nice feature and folds up nicely to the unit. * Watch you tube videos for any installation concerns (slamming the poles together and pouring the concrete. They recommend getting 9 80lb bags, I used 7. All in all this is an excellent hoop, very durable, no vibration and straight forward installation. You can have it installed for $400 if you don't want to mess with it but then your up to $1200. Just follow the instructions and don't skimp on anything April 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid--Just what I expected There's obviously a lot of reviews that are negative about the wobble of this goal. The goal does wobble, especially after a solid "brick" is chucked against it. However, I expected it, and it does not bother me. It's a goal in my driveway, I do not expect it to be as rock solid as one in a gym. Installation was about as I expected. One afternoon to dig/pour the footing. The assembly of the post and all remaining assembly took about 3-4 hours. You will definitely need some help installing the backboard. It took 3 of us to do ours, with the help of standing in the back of a pickup truck. With that combination, it wasn't too bad. Overall, I can't complain about this goal at all. Easy to use, solid construction, and much more economical than some of the other options out there. April 2, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very nice product First of all, the instructions were very easy to follow. Most anyone should be able to put this up, but you will need extra bodies to install the backboard. We just installed this weekend and have played several games. The backboard has such good bounce to it and the rim is solid. Just like being at a gym. The only turnoff is the movement of the goal. Seems like the weight of the backboard makes it wobble more than expected, but it really did not bother our game. For the price ( and I looked for a long time at all products), it is a good deal. I may try some ideas of others to reduce the wobble a bit. Including adding concrete to the inside of the pole. I did use larger rebar than what was provided in the kit. September 22, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by It's not a Goalrilla Purchased this system about 2 weeks ago. I did not put it in myself. I found a reliable company on craigslist that installed the hoop for less than the Dick's price. Overall, I knew what I was getting compared to the Goalrilla systems. It does have some backboard movement on certain shots (ie 'wobble). Obviously, the farther away we are from the basket when shooting, the more 'wobble' we see. However, by the time we get the rebound and shoot the next shot, the backboard is back to stable. I kind of knew the wobble would happen but I wanted a 60 backboard system and didn't want to spend $2000. August 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good quality product I bought this equipment for my 8 year old daughter to practice on and it seems to be well designed and the component quality is very good. The instructions are well done and easy to read. All of the hardware bolts, safety nuts, backboard, hoop are heavy duty and the coatings on all of the components are tough and look good. The only down side to this system is it takes about a week to do the installation correctly. It's not an easy install. 800 lbs of concrete is needed and a minimum of 72 hours of dry time for the concrete. So don't think you are going to complete it in a weekend. Overall it's a great system just be prepared to put in more than a few hours on the install. July 16, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good System This is an good basketball hoop system. Positives There is very little vibration after shooting on this basket Easily adjustable Good clearance between the rim and the pole You can buy heavier duty systems but for my use, not much dunking, I think this is a good buy. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great This setup is really great, very happy with it. I would highly recommend this goal. June 12, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Product has nice features but a little cheap for the price This is a nice goal but maybe a little overpriced for what you get. The two piece post and the mount seem to make the goal a little wobbly. I was surprised by the set up how much shake the pole has when shooting baskets. The pole needs to be made of heavier material or you almost need to have something more sturdy in the center of the metal post to support weight of the 60" backboard. Maybe even putting the pole mount on the ground versus setting it up on the washers would make it more sturdy. Overall, it should be a good hoop for my little boy and hopefully will last. I am glad I got it on sale versus paying full price for it. June 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by No complaints Was a little skeptical going with a 60" backboard on a two piece 4" pole but it is as solid as it's going to be. Good, solid action off the glass and minimal vibrations unless you really brick one. I really liked how all the hardware is laid out on a piece of cardboard and labeled for easy identification. Directions were clear and easy to follow and apart from the digging and pouring, took less than 90 minutes of assembly, install and adjustments. Great driveway system but it would certainly hold up to more intense play if needed. Great value as well since I got it on sale for $600 and used a $50 coupon off that. Some tips:Build a square form for the top of the concrete pour. Makes leveling easier and looks nice when it's finished. Mix the last bag or two of concrete a little dryer/stiffer. This will keep the anchor plate from sinking in. When setting the pole, do not make it plumb to the court. Keep it out of plumb leaning away from court about 1/2". When the backboard is attached, the weight will pull it forward to plumb. June 9, 2014
