Customer Reviews

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works as designed Solid ultra light for Colorado trout. I would recommend this purchase. I also bought some older Shakespeare Micro Series and they were also of good quality. July 9, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Shakespeare Fishing pole Not happy at all with this product we took it out and the pole broke first time. My son was devasted that his fishing pole was broken. July 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by my son caught his first fish with this I had originally purchased one of this plastic toy looking rods for my son. I couldn't even cast it myself. This combo head a smooth cast and retrieve. The drag works well and my three year old caught his first fish on his second cast. July 2, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Used for about two days Used this combo for about two days fishing for sunfish and then the rod tangled pretty bad. It wouldn't have been an issue except that the internal mechanism is very difficult to deal with and fix. The amount of time I had to put in just to fix a tangle isn't worth the price of this set up. If you need a quick set up, you may be able to get by with this, otherwise, invest in a better set up. June 3, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by cheap but decent Cheap combo, ok for the money. Would not expect to last long May 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by SOLID Just moved to New England and needed a new setup. I went through 2 Zebco 33's in a row that were defective. This rod & reel is one of the best I've ever owned by today's manufacturing standards (China). Very easy to maintain, the only complaint was that it came with cheap line, so I re-spooled it with Spider Wire 4lb test. I've had it for about a month and I've already caught a few dozen fish on it....bass, bluegill, and chain pickerel. Very user-friendly when it comes to taking it apart to fix a kink or to re-spool it. Highly recommended. October 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great beginner's gear! What a great rod and reel for my 8 year old son who is still learning how to fish. A great deal and nice features...Thanks Shakespeare & Dick's! August 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by this product is great i got this rod as a gift a couple years ago and ever since this rod has been great. the first time i ever used it i caught 6 big bass its a great rod u should really get it for the price July 10, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disapponted I purchased 2 of these fishing rods, both used one time fishing. 1 rod gave us no problems. The second identical rod gave us difficulty at the onset when we released the fishing line to pull it out to attach sinker and hook. It was difficult getting the line to release, and it tangled very easily. It happened repeatedly when trying to cast. It appears something is not right with the mechanism, to the point that the fishing line broke when attempting to reel in the last try, and the line broke at the mechanism, and the end is no longer retrievable. I will be returning this one rod this week and hope to be able to exchange it for an identical rod. Something faulty with this one. July 8, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Tip broke on 3rd fish Tip of the rod broke on the third fish.....took my nephew out for his first fishing trip....all was going well until the tip of the rod broke off with a little saltwater catfish....I would recomend investing a little more and get a better quality rod July 2, 2013
